Within days of being offered an above inflation (5%) pay deal over the next four years which could see the average tube driver being paid £50,000 (yes - FIFTY THOUSAND POUNDS) Bob Crow of the RMT has put forward a ballot for strike action over changes proposed by London Underground to reduce delays and over crowding. This is aside from ongoing negotiations to pay tube drivers a bonus of £500 if they work during the Olympics next year. To put this into context the average tube driver will be paid double the national average wage and will also benefit from free public transport and an annual leave entitlement (before bank holidays) of 9 weeks. Maybe anyone going home tonight on the Underground may wish to ponder this at the same time as travelling in conditions so cramped that the EU would ban it for being inhumane if you were an animal bound for the slaughter house. Mind the gap.
You gotta love tube drivers, they all hope the next 'jumper' lands under their carriage 'cos as soon as it does the driver gets whisked off for psychological assessment and a guaranteed 6 months leave on full pay. I have one friend who has witnessed 3 jumpers and has separately suffered from back injury and stress, he has missed a combined total of around 3 of the last 5 years work but been paid every month. Food for though....
They should be paid a bonus when someone jumps depending in the jumpers nationality, religion and gender
Hun? Are you under the misguided impression that I support Glasgow Rangers? Far from it my dear, I am a soft southern barsteward and the Ranger in my name refers to the Guardian reading croissant eating cappucino drinking Queens Park variety. Mind the doors.
How much do they get when Ranjit detonates his bulging sack full of peroxide bolts and chapati flour?
