Just realised I don't belong on this forum. I'm a Sunderland fan in name only, as I haven't been to a match all season and only saw five last year.
I managed to watch through Buxton, Reid, Wilkinson and McCarthy with season tickets before financial realities away from football kicked in (I'm staring down my fourth redundancy letter in three years), I doubt I'm the only fan who has stopped turning up for one reason only - I can no longer justify the expense. It's got nothing to do with the players on the pitch (give them, and Bruce, till December to settle into a team for me) but I'm not hardcore enough for not606, so I'll sign off with a final KTF.

Well for differing reasons my membership of not606 will be brief... Too clicky here... Post from the heart and the locals begin to hound you out.

One thing I can take from reading this forum is that fans like Cestria can see what is going on and I take heart from that, even if he has chosen to tow the partyline until the inevitable. Admiral qualities <ok>, but not my style.

I've absolutely no quarms about supporters who can't afford to go, and I genuinely hope that things improve for you mate...
I just took umbridge about a supporter describing SAFC as a product! I can understand foreign investors using that kind of terminology, but not supporters: it's just cold and heartless in my opinion like..

Each to their own mate, do you really find it clicky? I hope not...

I'm neither a BiB or a BoB, just a gobshite, who like reading other SAFC fans opinions.

Guess it's different though as i'm looking in from a-far, and my only games i get to see now is when i return home...

Thank god for live coverage of the games, from my point of view.

A point raised by Terry about the potential affect on attendences if bruce was sacked and MON brought in. If that were the case I think thered be a sell out for his first home game and then as results improved under the new regime attendances would remain high. Just my opinion.

I described why that I along with over 8,000 other supporters have clearly decided to hang up their boots due to the state of their lack of passion for the SAFC "product". If you cannot see any heart or passion about SAFC in my subsequent post, then you arn't reading my posts.

I won't stand by and watch the piss being taken out of me as an individual. You don't see it the way I do however we both would prefer to see the club in better shape. I believe that changing the manager will be a major factor for the good, others choose to tow the partyline...

The debate will invariably continue until such point one of the opposing viewpoints can declare that the other viewpoint was the better, more incisive assessment of what was going on.

That's maybe where I'm going wrong then mate..For me following SAFC is a way of life: I leave the business side of things to the people who hold the purse strings..

If it were simply the football on offer I'd have given up 25 years ago. That has been ****e most of the time but the club, Sunderland AFC is the real draw for me. I have always been a club man first and players are secondary. They come and go, although they seem to friggin well go more then they come these days lol (unless they are Titus of course - cough! cough!) but the club remains and belongs to us all for all time and is passed down to every new generation.

I will always prefer live games and coming to the games, even if what I am watching is utter dross and although I may well moan like a $20 whore about it, I'll always continue to come so long as my health allows it.

I cant effect the business although I can comment on it RAW but I'm with you on the playing side and it is a total way of life for me too. Yes I bitch and moan about it but still cant get enough.

Isn't that a really odd situation to be in for a grown man Lol?

Well I think I have said elsewhere football is a simple game, stop them scoring and score a few yourself. You do that by having players playing in their best position, the sum being greater than the individual parts.

If we were playing winning attractive football we would have a full house. Instead for the best part of a year now we have been very mixed which means cr@p.

Whose fault is this well you have to ask are the players good enough and have we managed to hang onto the ones who were, with Bent and Gyan leaving you have to say that we have failed to do this. We have an unbalanced side LB and LW missing.

We have a young skipper who is just plain wrong. We have wingers playing as strikers 'in the hole' who would be better out on the wing. Who plays on the LW. is obviously somebody who draws the short straw in the dressing room before hand. Elmo is not a RW either he may be aRB but I am uncertain of that as well.

We often huff and puff and run around to no good purpose, players bewildered as the tactics and the position they are playing.

We have Laurel and Hardy when they see things on the pitch dithering over what to do to change matters. Generally the side looks unmotivated and dispirited.

Do I support Sunderland yes, do I think the manager needs to be changed yes, just as we kept Peter Reid too long when matters were going pear shaped, it seems the same with SB. The team and how they are playing is the important issue, and if they can be improved by a change of manager that is what we should do! Do I think it is going to happen anytime soon...NO unfortunately.

Of course SUnderland as we know have not won anything for decades and we have been a yoyo for ages, I guess I just thought we were getting better than that..perhaps we are not.

To steal a phrase from Mr Spock, "it's totally illogical". However, when things do go right, and you have a crowd united in one in joy and emotion, is for me something which I treasure and is therefore worth the pain and the heartache that goes with the territory..

No they dont, they just come back with what they believe, and if thats different to what you believe, good, it makes an interesting forum, if you posted and everyone just towed the line like a flock of sheep, it would be a bloody boring forum.

If some of the points made on this thread were true, then every game played behind closed doors in the past would have ended 0-0, and very few Sunday League teams would ever pick up a point. 'It's all the fans' fault' is just another lame excuse for Bruce.

I think we should come to terms with this 'it is MY team' mentality too. It has clearly nothing to do with us, and they couldn't give a toss about the fans other than as cash cows. Any board that tells me 'we have every confidence in three home wins per ten month period' is not, repeat not, a good board in my eyes.

I don't think we have a bad set of players here at the moment. I think Bruce, Quinn and Short are stringing us along. It's high time they stopped telling us how much they value the fans' support and began showing us.

Well, I thought I had explained it really. All I can do is repeat what I said : "Any board that tells me 'we have every confidence in three home wins per ten month period' is not, repeat not, a good board in my eyes."

Any board member who can come out with something like that is just taking the p**s.
