Hands up. I wasn't aware if I pushed my bike out I'd be breaking the rules if I went so far. I assumed that I'm out doors, away from everybody and the message was no restrictions on the exercise you can do. So, yeah, this time I'd have to say the message hasn't been communicated very well because I hadn't picked up on it.

I really can't understand what all the fuss is about where someone (it doesn't matter who) has travelled 7 miles away from his home on a bike :emoticon-0145-shake

When I go out on my bike, seven miles each way is **** all . . . . it's just a short trip to the Alexandra Bridge (which is pretty bloody local) and back.

These days (weather permitting) I keep away from others, I don't mingle, I can't stop for a latte en route anyway, and a 14 mile round trip, for example, is barely breaking sweat.

Fairly serious joggers probably run more than 14 miles, and cycling is much quicker so many more miles can be covered in less time, and I can't see anything wrong with cycling for exercise in the South Shields/Sunderland (local) area as long as 'social distancing' is observed :emoticon-0148-yes:

When you go out no one cares because you haven't been insisting, on national TV, that people stay home/stay local ...

... not that the government have any idea what local means. According to the Policing Minister it's 'whatever you think in your own mind'.

You also don't have a security entourage peddling alongside and aren't passing hundreds, possibly thousands, of people.

If, as you say, 7 miles is fine what would you say isn't fine ...

... if you can't then the whole thing is meaningless.

NB according to Google maps the Olympic Park is 10 miles from Downing Street.

No idea where 7 miles comes from.

And I'm sure plenty of golfers would agree with you.

But rules are rules, and restricting the movement of the virus requires sacrifice.

What's the harm in just cycling five miles and back while these rules are in place?

We can't really pick and choose which rules to follow and which to ignore because we don't like them.

    Seems you can.

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home#exercising

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

    • by yourself

You should minimise time spent outside your home ... you should not travel outside your local area.

Inevitably outdoor exercise leads to situations were passing other people is inevitable and often the 2 metre rule cant be applied. Under present circumstances would it be too much to ask why people cant exercise indoors for a while, if it will help contain this killer virus and save the NHS from being overwhelmed ?

Johnson insists on doing his exaggerated 'elbow bump' to every stranger he meets ...

... how is that to be encouraged when it obviously breeches social distancing rules.

    Anyone?

Particularly in London where 1 in every 40 people are infected and there are more people. Not only that but there are many more foreign visitors in London than Sunderland, you simply can't compare the two places.

The fuss I would suggest Gordon is that moving out of your area to get to a starting point for exercise means the possibility of interacting with others who may or may not have the virus. Staying within your locality means that even if you have it you are only spreading it within a smaller area thus minimising the spread.

As long as 'in your own mind' you consider that it's local ...

... and you go on a bike <laugh>

I'd doubt the people of East London would appreciate loads of people from Central London coming to their area, during a pandemic, for their own pleasure tbh. That, as you say, is why there's a fuss. If you drew a 7 mile radius around No 10 Downing Street it would take in a huge chunk of the capital rendering the 'Stay home/stay local' message another shambles.

The PM should just exercise a little better judgement, simple as that.

Great news mate, don't worry ...

... just a little prick and you're done.

Since Brexit I've dropped off the scale and have no chance of getting one ...

... unless I break the French lockdown, pay for a test, manage to get on a ferry to England, go into another lockdown and get on a waiting list...

... old age will probably get me before the virus does <laugh>

I think all countries are doing something, but its obviously easier for some than others. I wouldn't want to be living in India right now...I wish I was back in Finland, immunising myself in the sauna every day.

Until herd immunity and/or vaccines are rolled out everywhere this thing will flare up & mutate. Blocking borders needs to be done everywhere for a period of time, with essential/select travel only allowed if very bar rigorous testing & quarantines are in place until this thing is snuffed out. This certainly helped the AUS/NZ guys get right on top of the ****er.

your a liar you called me a liar when you didn't have a clue what was going on, you only said it to get your own back because you lost the argument and wanted revenge, you left the thread then came back into the post 2 days later with the intention of getting even, after calling me a liar something you said made me go back and check your posts, i sees that you had delete part of the post which you didn't want me to use as evidence, before you hit the report button,I have just returned from the funerals of two close friends who died of covid then i see your pathetic lies, lots of people have PMd me to tell me what they think about you, its not nice but i wont push it as im not as vindictive as you, and im not out for snecking points like you always are,do you know how many people you have had banned from this board for disagreements with you, or do you think its all forgotten mr REPORT button fetish. you really are a sad case

I think you've made that up just as you did when you claimed loads of people no longer post specifically because of me.

Whatever the case I stand by what I've said on here.

If all these people are talking about me, behind my back, I'd say they're cowards, a bunch of grown men gossiping about an anonymous username on a little chat forum, perhaps you should ask yourselves if you're taking this all a little too seriously.

Please, post these pms, I don't have any problem, just do it if you're not just making it up. There's your chance to prove me wrong, right there.

Anyway, you believe you've made your point, I've no idea what that is, so that's the end of it for me ...

... unless, as I suspect, you're just doing your usual and raging at someone because I asked a simple question about this French plague village that you couldn't answer.

Instead of saying' yeah, those figures are impossible, perhaps they were misinformed' you go off on one as usual.

I was very polite when I asked the question, you went nuts and I responded.
