That’s what it says on OS, but can’t really see this match going ahead within a reasonable time scale.
There just isn’t any time that Saints could play a rearranged match before the 4th Round is due to be played in 2 weekends time., which is why the FA originally said that the 3rd Round had to be completed this weekend. I’m not sure why the FA are being indecisive about it.
As Brendy mentioned, I think they might be waiting for the draw to see if we get a non European side, and if we do then we'll play it weekend of the 4th and push that back. Seems a bit of a mess though.
I think that the FA Cup needs to move forward, especially as league matches may need rescheduling. If you can’t play, you need to concede...and I would say that even if it penalises Saints in the future. That’s unfortunate as it may affect the smaller clubs the most, but these are difficult times.
I agree, but there should be some kind of compensation fund set up for the lower and non-league clubs that don’t get the TV money that they were hoping for.
Shrewsbury Town have had their game on Saturday suspended with players STILL self isolating. The club have also confirmed two further positive tests. Can’t see it being played now.
But the fifth round is on Weds 10th Feb, so if we played the third round on 23rd Jan, assuming we win there would then be no space to fit in the fourth round tie before 10th Feb as we have mid-week PL games. DTLW has just posted about the Leeds game potentially being postponed, and that is the only place we can fit it in really, but then that is a bit of a pain to us in regards to league fixtures.
Can't see the PL agreeing to that with postponements already adding up. Watch us get a kind run to the quarter finals and then lose to Shrewsbury.
Yeah it is getting a bit messy. Cases in the PL, although still quite high, dropped a bit in the last round of testing though, so hopefully that continues and postponements don't continue as they have been. Before the season started I thought the Champs League and Europa League should have been one group game vs each team, rather a home and away game. Would have freed up three weeks where the cup/prem games could have been played and that would have made things a lot easier.
The sensible thing imo would have been to scrap European football altogether for the season. Would never happen though cos, y'know, money.
