For those interested, my new 'Stasi' novel (the last in a series of crime thrillers set in East Germany) has just been released as a paperback. No mention of Hull City, but Hull itself is central to the plot (as is Dresden ... you can probably guess where that's heading). It's The Stasi Game and you should be able to get it from Tesco, as well as bookshops. Also for a limited period, the Kindle version is just 99p (not sure if this applies to other non Kindle e-books -- a previous one, Stasi 77 is also 99p for a short while). It's set in WW2 and 1982 and for some reason is bedecked in the mid 80s Don Robinson-era Tigers' colours (the cover designer is bizarrely from Hull too but claims it's accidental).

I enjoyed 'Stasi 77' and also an earlier one ('Stasi Girl'?), your first I think. I am interested in WW2 and East German history but had never heard of the Gardelegen massacre. Your book caused me to divert there while travelling through Germany a couple of years ago. Deeply moving.
I confess I borrowed the books from the library rather than actually buying them but what else can you expect from a Yorkshireman?

Borrowing them from a library is great! I'm delighted you found them. Authors still get a little from each library loan -- last year my books were loaned out around 12,500 times I think, which still earned me more than a grand through the public lending right. Please spread the word!

And I'm glad it prompted you to visit Gardelegen. It looked a little sad and unloved when I went, but a new visitor centre has just opened there this year.

It was a little difficult to find (fortunately I recognised the word Gedänkstätte on a sign). I don't think the visitor centre was open at the time. A caretaker gave us a couple of leaflets in German and we went on to visit a place where the anti-fascist wall with its watchtowers and so on is still
in place.
Am I correct in thinking that Dynamo Dresden's colours are similar to City? If so, they are my favourite (East) German team.

Yes they are - I didn't realise when I wrote the novel, otherwise I would have tried to shoehorn it in ;o)

We played Dynamo Dresden in 2013, beat them 1-0 with a goal from Sagbo.

My children's book, Oleg the Giant has had an audiobook made of it. It's now available in Kindle, paperback and audio versions. It's aimed at about 8 year olds. You can get it on Amazon but it's postage free from the publishers, Olympia publishing.

Greasy Cod and chips ? In Hull ?
Cod is for southerners. Its Haddock up here. Always has been. Cod had to ordered as a special.
