It was so obvious and why people couldn't understand why our borders were left open.

40 million incoming flights later and they've now decided to test incomers ...

    ... sometime soon <doh>

At the moment there's a national 8pm to 6am curfew, 6pm to 6am in many areas, and heavy fines if you're caught out.

You need a negative test to be allowed into France and only certain classes of people are allowed at all.

"Castex also said that France was doing much better than many of its neighbours, with an incidence rate half that of Switzerland and Germany and eight times lower than the UK, a difference he said was 'undoubtedly' due to France introducing its second lockdown in October."

    Thanks for the reply.

I'd say as an absolute minimum a negative test for all incoming people is what's required for the UK

That what’s good about living here. Our Premier is consistent in telling us all that he would make decisions based on the science. He also backs us (the police) when needed and has zero sympathy for anyone who breaks the rules. Hence, we all know where we stand and comply with stuff. There is the odd one who doesn’t comply but that’s few and far between. As such we went back to a relative normal fairly quickly.

I feel a little for Dan Andrews (Premier of Victoria for everyone else).

I think the other premiers have done well and luck has been fairly kind to them.

Obviously we had that horrendous breach in our quarantine scheme, which I don't blame on him or his office. You can't account for quarantine officers taking those in quarantine on lunch time dates to Macdonalds and then back to their room for a shag.

At that point he was put on the back foot and it became pretty obvious that he's just not a very likeable man. He's been done ever since for me.

Even though he's probably done an ok job.

Whilst i understand your point he always had the choice of accepting the Army's offer to police the medi hotels. Instead he went with the "union brothers" that insisted on the private security firms. Sadly Dan Andrews has in my opinion handled the situation the worst out of all the State Premiers, quite a few Victorian friends of mine feel the same as well.

I definitely feel he has done the worst job of it. I felt like I lost six months of my life over it.

Understandable mate. As i said, sadly he gave the contracts for the security to his mates that funded him.

When SA closed our borders to Vic his comments were "Who wants to go to SA anyway", trust me, that put a fair few hackles up.

Forcing regional areas that had no cases to wear masks whilst allowing BLM protests to occur in Melbourne? He's a knacker and got sorely found out when the going got tough

I don't believe we will ever all be singing from the same hymn sheet. The amount of covid deniers is off the scale in Tyneside.

Facebook is awash with people preaching to everybody to not let the government control them and to carry on calling in on their family and friends. Anybody who goes against their mentality becomes a sheep and a government puppet. The deaths from everybody getting together for Christmas are starting to happen now. The deaths from the new year parties will begin to show in the next week or so.

And that’s one of the advantages of living in an entitled democracy I suppose. I said this the other day but is there something we can learn from countries like Russia and China who keep their citizens a bit more subdued and compliant?

I just don't understand what they think the Government are trying to do. What's this machiavellian end goal they are gunning for by lying to us about this "glorified flu"?

I saw protesters here complaining vaccines were just Bill Gates' way of putting a tracking device upon our persons. I assume those people don't use smartphones or facebook.

It's the same round my way in the South West and their voices are getting louder despite the totals.

Someone on our local Facebook group posted the official data for our local critical care unit at Bath Hospital clearly showing they are stretched and almost at capacity and there were a load of people still denying it was an issue

All this **** from the government regarding the spread, and yet they are still allowing people to attend places of worship in England. What in any way, shape or form is attending a place of worship a necessity?

Lack of understanding what? If people feel the need to worship it can easily be done from home. It is absolutely nuts that people can still do this.

I have said for a while, with the exception of Australia and New Zealand, the countries managing the pandemic the best appear to be the countries with a poor Human Rights record.
