For 2 teams who were reasonably well matched, both poor, over the 90 minutes,I'm finding it difficult to get my head round that one? Why didn't they beat us 4-0 then?
Our squad is far better than we are producing. all down to management (hence the off the cuff 4-0 figure) ... but thats a discussion that doesn't need to be added to the KLP one here.
It's not a KLP thread,it's a Sunderland v Hull City thread? The KLP thread has been transferred to the 'no politics,Michelle Dewberry's breasts are corkers' thread.
"Anyone could see"... Really?? £8m for a fast kid that couldn't really defend. If he'd gone to Burnley or Palace for that fee, we'd not have commented, BUT I'd wager he wouldn't be the player he is now... Move on....
I was there when he scored the equalising goal at Swansea, it was down at the far end from the city support and looked to be a bit of a scrambler - since the swans were one of his old teams he didn't celebrate it, the twat him.
I don't see it either. HullPhil nailed it for me. Anywhere but Liverpool, and rather than saying we let him go too cheaply, it may be a case of, we had their pants down. We got good money for him for what he was at the time he left. I think "a bit of polish" regarding the Liverpool set up is an understatement. That polish includes being coached by supposedly the worlds leading, quite possibly the only, throw in coach. Then again, just think if he had stayed. Instead of crosses being met by runners anticipating the same, pundits purring at the beauty, he could be hoisting hopeful balls into the box for Eaves to find row Z.
McCann set us up (once again) as 4 2 3 1. This time with Honeyman playing wide in the 3!! In place of Adelukan (recalled by Bristol City). No wonder he was ineffective, and we were so disjointed. Absolute genius from McCann. Put your best player out of position, stick with the same system but with a totally different type of player playing wide in the 3. Watch the game unfold and observe it isn't working, then do nothing about it. Of course, he's not helped by Rehab not allowing McCann to start KLP who would have slotted in nicely in place of Adelukan. So what should he have done? If he wanted to keep the same 4 2 3 1 system (no, it's not 4 3 3 and hasn't been for months), then keep round pegs in round holes. E.g. stand up to Rehab and start KLP, or play Meyer there (swap sides with Wilks), or play Emmanuel there and have Coyle at RB. Or, else tweak the system to accommodate our best player in his natural position e.g. back to 4 3 3 or 4 4 2. (ok, arguably best player) Then, with Eaves. Reminded me of when Big Billy first arrived. **** touch (led to their goal), too often finds himself way out of position (out wide), in the pocket of defenders who he should be controlling, shot of confidence. Question is, who exactly is coaching him? I mean really coaching him to develop his game as a CF. It won't be McCann, it won't be Byrne, and it won't be Pennock. How could they. If only we had Chillo to teach him. Or maybe Deano?
Decent point. No real damage done considering gimps/posh shared the spoils. See Stanley are making a good fist of it. Serious darkhorses.
Re Robertson Young Left footed Incredible engine Very good on the attack Good crosses Wanted by Liverpool under Klopp 15-18 Million at the time all day long. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was sold for a straight up cash deal.
To be fair, I'm not convinced that Liverpool would have paid that for him at the time. He surpassed their own expectations.
Liverpool’s success rate under Klopp re signings is pretty strong. Just think 9 million is cheap in modern football. Think Robertson also comes across if having the right attitude.
Yep British, left footed, fast young, fantastic work ethic and attitude, was only going to improve, and was known as a late developer. Had he been right footed no idea how much his value changes as they are much more common. The starting price for larkers of that ilk was 20 mill back them , now would be 25 mill. Snd we sold him for 8 plus kevin stewart ffs
I do think we should be looking for a CF who is more effective than the current 2, but thanks for bringing a bit of nuance to the Eaves discussion. As a team, we posed far more threat in the first 35 minutes when he was on than when he was replaced by Magennis (who to be fair to the lad probably wasn't wanting to face 55 minutes at this stage in his recovery). Eaves linked play up well on several occasions but he should have scored with that header. But the vitriol is depressing. Some were blaming him for their goal because he gave away a free kick. Wilks was asleep defensively as normal, as to an extent was Fleming. And there were plenty on social media pleased when Eaves got injured, even though you could see he was close to tears of frustration.
No one else were in for him and he was bought as a back up by Klopp. There really wasn’t a lot of commotion on here about him and Maguires price. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.
Robertson was a steal at the time but most know why it happened the way it did. Seems to be a bit of a merry go round following City at times and some of posts suggest that week in week out. We still have the same set of ****ish owners who openly admit they are ‘ not football people’ (surprise surprise) . The same owners who want rid of a club they obviously see as anchor weight yet as soon as players end up leaving on the cheap usually dissolutioned to fcuk the uproar and surprise starts up again. The latest episode with KLP is a perfect example. Here we have a young lad with bags of potential who’s agent is obviously being used as puppet yet fans are calling for McCann to put his job on the line and start the kid...I mean as if that’s going to happen given McCann won the lottery last season and kept his f’kin job...get real. The Allam’s have this club and most of it’s supporters tied up in knots and have done for years and before anyone asks no...I don’t have a clue what the answer is other than either get being the lads no matter what or...stay as far away from the f’kin club as you can until they f’koff and leave. The End.
Part of the perception that we didn't get a good price for Robertson is the outcome of our signing of Kevin Stewart as part of the deal. A player we signed for allegedly £8 million and let go for nothing. https://rushthekop.com/2019/06/28/l...evin-stewart-man-hull-swapped-andy-robertson/
Robertson was starting for his country every game back then, long before he went to LFC. He wasn't some untried young kid.
