Lots of talk about the Vaccine and it’s availability doing the rounds. People are obviously becoming twitchy now as the new super infectious variant takes hold. Amazing how many folk still think once you’ve had the jab it’s play time again and the sun comes out...it’s not. If you haven’t fallen asleep yet most Vaccines don’t prevent you getting infected. They stop you getting sick. Vaccines will however have a noticeable impact on the spread of the virus as typical symptoms from this infection cause more droplets to be produced. Also the viral load will be lower as it cannot replicate at its normal speed plus you are not as infectious for as long a period of time either. Still...its not like we’re a goal down is it.
well my wifes sis works in a docs surgery darn sarf and they had some left over vaccine today so she got the jab so as not to waste it. not a tale. fact. another result for common sense. whereas father in law too ill to have his second jab missed out on thurs and today refused hospital treatment (hes 86 so knows they wouldnt give him any specialist treatment) and this morning the silly sod was aching/hurting that bad he just wanted to die and join his wife whos been up in 'heaven' for the last 5 years. he'd rather take a million to 1 chance (or more) that she will be up there over staying with his large loving family in reality. old codgers. don't you love em?
Sounds like the man has had enough and would prefer not to be here.At 86 he probably realises that he's losing his dignity and self pride. My Father was 83 and I saw it in him,he put up no sort of fight when he became unwell....I respected that.
you might be right, two of his daughters see it that way, but the other doesnt. later at tea time he was right as rain making himself some scran. its been a terrible year for him not being able to mix. plus he cant be trusted with the internet due to getting scammed so he cant even face time his family. ive never bought into this "wanting to join your wife" malarkey. first few months after her death he was on suicide watch. my wife sees it all the time. old people saying they just want to die and they dont last long after that.
Well the Vaccination programme must have moved up a gear , the Mrs has been asked to book in for her vaccine this week , she works for the NHS so I figure we are swiftly moving through teh 80+ age group and must be moving towards the third band of people that need it
Unfortunately not, as there are still people from the 1st group that haven't received it, but as long as they're jabbing someone, it's still progress, although someone who has tested positive is liable to effectively be immune anyway.
Could someone set him up with an Echo Show? Dead easy to use for video calls. And could enjoy using Alexa too (music, reading out books, talking to, news, whatever). My mother (late 80's) has never used a computer or smart phone in her life, and refuses to entertain the idea ..... but uses an Echo Show no problem at all, and enjoys it. She regularly now sees family and wider relatives who call her, including new great grandchild (no, the new great grandchild doesn't actually call her himself! .... just yet). Edit: it's definitely worth paying the bit extra to get the Echo Show 8 (v's the 5). Not just screen size, but also sound quality.
Brilliant. This just about sums up a lot of our problems! So called 'Great British Public'!!! Yeah, rite. Too many too dense to get it, or else too selfish. The comments about what many will do once they've got the first jab are also likely true. Too many are too thick to understand, or else just too selfish. Harsh maybe, but about right if we're honest.
Well the capacity is certainly there , for staff (front line and otherwise) alone at the trust they have 8 slots every 15 minutes throughout the day, all frontline should be done by thursday according to the trust , plus at least that again for patients/general public ... this is starting on monday, work that out over a say 10 hour day and that this is one of approx 1000 across the country and its quite positive news that the capacity is potentially going to be there to hit that target by middle of february I know some will do less per day and some will do more but just using rough estimates Im more hopeful than I was before I saw the booking schedule for sure
