I've never been involved in a 'negotiation' yet that didn't involve demands from both sides??

True but if he doesnt sign the club loses big time.
He has enough potential to succeed by holding out .

We sold a fullback for £9m who had just be an ever present in a team that had been relegated, and he had had his arse whipped several times in that team when caught out of position. He had potential but he was nowhere near a £50m player and I don't think he would be today if he played for anyone else but Liverpool.
As for KLP, there should be a bit of give and take on both sides. The club considerably upped his wage and he should be willing to give us another year or at least the option of one. Whatever it needs resolving because KLP should have come on tonight for Eaves as Magennis looked nowhere near the pace.

So if he is going to just leave for nothing anyway, why should we pay him more? As you say clubs have will have seen him and will sign him anyway, so why not sign a slightly longer deal, get a larger pay rise and In turn get the club that has developed you from the age of 8, given you the opportunity to get that big move, a better transfer fee... You know his hometown club he claims to support?

Him signing a slightly longer deal on higher wages is an win all round for everyone. I really can't see how it's not been done.... Oh hang on, if that happens then his representative doesn't get paid anywhere near as much.

What sort of figure are you putting on this lads head?? He's by no means the finished article, possibly Championship level at the moment and at his age and with his experience he'd be taken as a punt worth going with but no guaranteed certainty to set the Prem alight in 3-4 years time.

Agreed. There is nothing at all unusual in lengthy contract negotiations. They will be happening in every club in the country. What is exceptional is for a club to accuse disloyalty whilst negotiating and punishing the individual by illogical exclususion from the team. Can anyone quote me an example of this approach elsewhere, and I don't mean right at the end of contract. Let's remember that KLP has a further 18 months on his contract, that's 60+ games that he could play or not.

Why should we let him play, develop and then just potentially walk away for free... The club have been slated for doing that and now they try to get young players on longer deals you don't think it's right?

Your right, as I've said multiple times, the why it's been handled has been piss poor, but what they are asking for is logical and more then reasonable

I never saw Robertson becoming what he is now....Anyone that claims to have, has had too much Jack Daniels watching tonight's offering..

He was positionally naive to say the least and he's had the benefit of being coached and nurtured by one of the finest coaches in English Football.Another team may have seen a far different outcome.

I think James Milner has had quite an influence on Robertson's development since he left us.

I agreed at the time that it was wrong of Grant McCann to discuss this in a post match interview, the punitive measures, which they seem to be,are also wrong. That said(and this is something we should all take on board),is the FACT that there is not one person posting on here who can state categorically that they are privy to any ongoing negotiations or deals being thrashed out in the Clubs boardroom between Chairman and agent.

You're looking at it through the owners eyes.

No I'm looking at it through logical eyes, he gets a larger wage rise and more security for if things go bad for him, the club gets more of a transfer free if and when his performances warrant a move. It's win win all round ( bar the leeches that represent him ) and exactly what most posters on here have been demanding for years now.

If your a supporter of Hull city AFC then way on earth wouldn't you want him to sign a long term deal?
