There have always been crazed nutters, we have our home grown David Icke. IIRC he was kicked off social media for arguing that 5G and the Jews were responsible for the spread of Covid19. My poor understanding is that there are various laws as to what can be broadcast on TV and Radio, similar laws about what can be published in print. However very few laws about internet/social media. As is being proved what is out there for public 'news' consumption has to kept within some sort of guard rails, otherwise there are dangerous consequences. As to who should be the censor... there's the rub!
To be fair mate the kind of people who believe nutters, on social media, claiming the vaccine puts a government tracker in your arm probably deserve to die ... ... it's called natural selection
There is no difference. Both sets of protestors acted illegally when they started to kick off and damage property. Trying to make out BLM are somehow different becasue they had a different intent is bollocks to my head, they still caused major damage. https://www.axios.com/riots-cost-property-damage-276c9bcc-a455-4067-b06a-66f9db4cea9c.html The protests that took place in 140 U.S. cities this spring were mostly peaceful, but the arson, vandalism and looting that did occur will result in at least $1 billion to $2 billion of paid insurance claims — eclipsing the record set in Los Angeles in 1992 after the acquittal of the police officers who brutalized Rodney King. Causing bewteen 1 and 2 billion dollars in damage in what has been described as peaceful protests doesn't add up to me. That much damage is caused by folk being violent, not being peaceful.

And this is the ****ter about it all. You get any two sides who are completely entrenched in their own views leads to the other side being viewed as the enemy. So no dialogue, no comprimise, no co-operation, just demonising going on by folk towards other folk who think differently. I do wonder what the left wing media will do once Trump has left office as he has been their entire world for the last four years. My guess is at least a year or two of the likes of Pelosi gunning for him any way they can instead of just closing that particular chapter on the Presidential book.
I never posted on any political threads on RTG and I've only recently posted on here. I'm not a Labour/Conservative supporter and always, perhaps naively, hope our government will generally look after us. So it's quite disturbing to see how totally entrenched people are, even worse than a Sunderland v Newcastle derby match. People post swathes of cut & paste 'information' but no one ever looks at it. TBF there's no need for them to read what 'the other side' is saying because their mind is already made up, carved in stone and tattooed on their brows. I don't like extremists of any kind and politics seems to attract them more than anything else.
I know l am being pedantic - but l made one point - one comment. That was the security and the policing of two protests in Washington DC. and their differences - and wondered both HOW and WHY. Nothing more nothing less. KTF
The entrenched view thing is the killer and I think at times it needs to be challenged. And it is fair to say that the recent protests by some Trump supporters and by some BLM supporters crossed the line as to what is acceptable. Not all of them mind, be plenty on both sides who were expressing themselves peacefully and within the law. Just takes a handful of **** nuggets for that to be ignored.
Sorry lads, but I'm sick of the bickering and I've got to take the three amigos out of this thread, for the sake of everybody else who wants civilised conversation and to avoid posters leaving 'cos it's getting like 'over the road'
I was never talking about the policing, never have. All I am saying is both sides have **** nuggets in their ranks and acted illegally. If you want to ignore that point and bring policing into it I'm left wondering why you initially responded to my post. So I'll ask you again, do you think both lots of protestors are to blame for their actions? Or does one side get a free pass because of the policing?
I really really don’t want to argue ’sides’ I really don’t. But l believe there is something ‘rotten in the state of Denmark’ to quote Will S. That is not that one set was more right or had more right on their side - but there appears to be a bloody great chasm of difference to the preparedness of police/security and the handling of two sets of protesters. Adressing or investigating this may help in the future. It was not an attack on a ‘side’ or a poster but is an area of this debate that is not getting any attention and l believe it needs it. KTF
I get what you're saying but I still think, regardless of how the protests were policed, that both sides of the divide have their share of blame for acting up. I don't think one side is necesarily worse than the other mind, just that they both have their share of mentalists. I get the impression that you're more leaning towards blaming how the protests were policed rather than blaming the idiots who were out either burning buildings to the ground in the case of BLM or storming capitol hill in respect to the Trump lot.
I just thought that an inspection of why their was was a difference might shed a light as to why there is a polarisation of blinkered opinions instead of society saying - ‘hang on here a minute . . . Why are we at this impasse snd what can be done so people (not sides) feel that they (both) feel they are heard’ Hope you can see what l am aiming for. KTF
Could it be that the authorities never expected the Capitol rally to become violent the way it did as compared to the violence which regulary appears to occur with the BLM protest rallys? Not sure if this was the thinking but it's a possibility
