Hendo Gini and Jones should be embarrassed after that first half display. Couldn’t even pass around or play through a bunch of teenagers. Almost zero intent to try and be creative unless it was to put in one of those useless deep crosses from the right channel. I cannot wait for Fabinho and Thiago to come back and become mainstays in midfield because this team has evolved. I know it was against kids but Thiago and Shaq came on and changed everything. They didn’t do anything spectacular - simple forward passing and playing in between the lines. Look at Salah’s goal - Thiago plays a pass into Shaq that Gini and Hendo would never do, Shaq is in a pocket of space, and then plays to Salah. This is why I have some sympathy for the forward over recent weeks because they have look disinterested but they’ve also been starved. The movement was so much better once Thiago and shaq came on.
I can’t wait for our real leader, VVD, to come back. Last night was the last straw for me and certainly exposed a certain myth about the so called leader in this group.

I understand Barry, the Villa goalscorer, swapped his shirt with Fabinho and then realised he had given his debut shirt away. He went back to Fabinho to get it back and Fabinho gave it to him and also told him to keep the LFC shirt.

Thiago is the better player. I’d say in the final third Shaq is our most creative especially based on his last few appearances. thiago is more creative from deep. I’d say Thiago plays the ball into Shaq who then gets the assist if that makes sense? Both creative no doubt. My main point was that he der serves a start based on his recent form. If anything to put himself in shop window.
I'm not disputing that Shaqiri is a creative player, but I think Thiago has something special - he adds the unexpected to the quality of his passing and completely wrong-foots the opposition. His pass to Shaq for the last goal was sublime, when the obvious one was out to the wing to Neco (I think it was).
Don’t get me wrong not trying to say Thiago isn’t unique special and quality. Don’t wanna get hung up on who is the most creative when I was just trying to point out that during our recent form breaking teams down has been an issue and Shaq seems to provide that extra bit of quality in final 3rd. Thiago baxk will no doubt help as well although didn’t in the saints game.
