It's one of those signings where we have to put our trust in LJ. He did say that some of his signings would be unfashionable but would fit with his overall ethic and I think this is one of those. We shouldn't expect outstanding goals or immense defensive protection but more a figure that fits within the system and makes it work that little bit better
He sounds like he plays a similar role ro Leadbitter. If so im not sure how they can play in the same team, but either way hopefully he drops Power and Dobson abit further down the pecking order.
We can always find other teams fans who will say good things about a player we’re about to sign or have sign. Our recent signings have demonstrated that they are anything but good. If Winchester signs then I’ll judge him on his performances in a Sunderland strip.
That's all fine mate but only commenting on new signings, after a period of performances, would make chat forums a bit pointless. People are just chatting about a new player and what they've heard. Surely it's good that fans of his current, and previous, clubs are speaking highly of him.
I saw a video compilation of Jozy Altidore once. He looked great. Then he signed for us. I read something about that O’Brien lad on here as well and how all the Millwall fans really rated him. Hardly set the world alight at SAFC. Yes, it’s nice that others speak highly of Winchester but I’ll reserve judgment if that’s ok.
Signing someone to go straight in the first team and not just 'competition in the squad' will be a novelty.
Can’t be worse than any of Parkinson’s signings. Other than Bailey Wright, can’t think of one signing he actually played on a regular basis?? Very strange manager.
I'm sure we're all reserving judgement mate, but this is LJ's first signing so people are bound to be looking for positives, I know I am.
It embarassing. LJ could easily have settled for what we had in midfield as we have the bodies, but he has clearly seen that the blend and balance isnt right. I hope that the new boy and 09 are both in the mix there, with the likes of Power and Dobson pushed down pecking order
Onien back in full contact training next week. Should be interesting to see how LJ utilises him when match fit
Apparently he gets the ball and moves it forwards quickly, something doesnt sound quite right here, is this football as we know it? Is this some kind of witchcraft thing?
Very good point. He's obviously identified what we're lacking, as we've all done ... ... won't stop people moaning though.
