My problem is Holden and the club were not open and honest from day one about what had gone on, it took Mcgregor to finally find the courage to ask him about specifics and for me it was still left open to interpretation and with todays revelations, I don't know who is telling the truth anymore, even some on here were saying the Williams situation was a conspiracy theory but for me it never added up from day one, Holden will have to stick to his version now, but it would be very interesting to hear exactly what Williams has to say about whether or not he arrived injured, because as Supcon said Holden was hardly going to admit to signing an injured player and Williams has nothing more to lose because if he was injured and BCFC still signed him, thats not his fault and neither was what subsequently happened during his rehab.

The endgame is going to be interesting, I cannot see how all of the combatants can stay in place something will have to give, Williams, Holden, Ashton or most likely the medical team will have to go, I can see no other way to resolve this, I bet the telephone line to Guernsey has been red hot in the past 24 hours, I fully expect SL to try to put a tin lid on this but I fear if more ex or even current players back Williams, the will have to act or at least make a very big statement of explanation.

It's a mess thats for sure, I can't see the fans letting go of this one.

Just what we didn't need but our injury crisis develops each and every season and many have asked the same question as to why we seem to fall further afoul than most others? Is it any wonder we have big problems attracting better managers when it seems to be more is happening in the halls at Ashton Gate when it comes down to who is the person upsetting the apple cart at the expense of good footballing nous? The ultimate person in the food chain is none other than SL and until he accepts his shortcomings and changes his course we will still be asking the same in 5 or 10 years - so why bother?

To be fair Mike; we ATTRACT the proven managers (ie they initially APPLY for the position), but we don't EMPLOY them.
You're right about the injuries though - I've been saying that for several seasons now.
I do have some sympathy with Deano not going public in support of Williams's sentiments though - he has to toe the line with his employers and isn't established enough yet to be able to criticise them in public and get away with it.

Surely a manager or head coach has a team of so called 'advisors' around him to give guidance or make him aware of all player areas transfers, healthwise, fitness, skill levels, mental aspects, welfare, financial, educational, even moral, he is responsible as the head man for results, performance and ultimately success or failure.

He has got to take advice and trust those around him, from MA, right through the various groups, if he is advised a player is fit to play he takes that advice, if a player is successfully signed and medical advisors tell him he has passed the medical standards and examinations he believes what he is told, if that player cost £1.25m and a wage rate is agreed he accepts the package as finished and gets on with the job, when there are major setbacks he is not going to go running to the press making excuses, he will try to self manage the situation internally and seek positive improvements.

If as this news implies the players are not satisfied with the medical rehab department it obviously has to be reported back to the head coach, with all of these continual and ongoing injury concerns it's also obvious he has got to take the situation to MA and a internal review or investigation should and maybe has taken place, answers should have been obtained and actions put into place.

We as fans have suspected there are problems for a long time, we have been brushed off with various explanations concerning Williams, Walsh and various other players, we should be advised truthfully on what the reasons for these conditions to continue are and what actions the club are taking to immediately improve them.

MA is responsible for the appointments of that department and he is the CEO he should be talking himself to the fans and not treating us like all like muppets and mushrooms but he has disappeard and vanished under his rock again leaving DH to take all of the flack and continue to walk the line.

They may apply but almost certainly either don't accept or don't get the job and why? I think your very last sentence answers that incredibly well. But there could be a knock on to his reluctance to back his player, it may put off potential signings a). because of the standard of medical care/rehab and b). lack of support from his manager.

I repeat for a player who has not kicked competitive ball for us ever, to come out and say what he has said, he must have been desperate beyond belief, his health, well being and mental state seem to have been totally overlooked by the club obviously ignoring the plight of young man and the notoriously short career that comes with football, there is no way Holden could not have known about this.

The whole situation smacks to me of something that happens in the uniformed services every single day, when mistakes are being made the senior officers stick together to protect themselves, especially the people right at the top because there is no way they will admit that they have made mistakes and promoted/given jobs to the wrong people or that their inaction has caused the situation we now find ourselves in and middle management (Holden) eat and talk company **** in fear of their jobs.

And that IMHO is always going to be the way at BCFC I am afraid to say.

It's across all industries I'm afraid. Senior management close ranks - but if ultimately exposed, they get the 'golden bullet', worth £shedloads (a nice generous payoff), and go and do exactly the same somewhere else, while everyone lucky enough to be left behind (ie hasn't lost their jobs as a result of senior management incompetence) has to pick up the debris.
Crikey, I'm beginning to sound like BCFCROB - but this type of situation really does stir up the small part of socialist in me!!!!

We will never know the truth, but the sheer number of long term injuries over the last several seasons suggests something isn’t quite right , of course it will be dealt with internally, that’s the way of the world but it needs to be addressed and quickly.

I think you know where I stand on this issue and the bullshit that we have been fed.

But consider this. I think the thought that he injured himself on day 1 is far too convenient.

When we were in for Williams there were a host of teams after him and many of them bigger clubs than us including at least 2 premiership clubs, the fee being mooted was over 2mil and suddenly he signs for us for 1.2mil, now there has to be reason he seemingly never spoke to anyone else bar us, it just happened.

Secondly I would also say that this recent explosive revelation in my mind throws into doubt Holden's denial of Walsh not playing because of refusing to sign a new contract, we know he is out of contract in June and we know he has not signed a new contract so far, we also know that Mark Robins publicly stated he would attempt to sign Walsh permanently, it is inconceivable to think that before making that statement he hadn't spoken to the player.

Bearing in mind it is highly likely that Williams and Walsh have known each other from being very young kids at Everton and being part of and playing in the same youth set up, they probably have a close bond.

Agree with both posts, my money is firmly on the player carrying the can and that is extremely sad.

I don’t see how the player carrying the can is dealing with the issue, we need to stop these injuries happening, or at least stop the recovery times taking so long. If there is an issue, which the evidence tends to suggest there is, it needs to be identified and corrected

I am with you 100% but as has already been discussed, I don't expect SL, JL or MA to admit that there is a problem (because that would suggest that they screwed up and that would never do), Holden has been a good puppy and towed the company line, only one person left and that's the player, also you would have to ask the question whether given his treatment so far, would he want to stay here once he is fit?.

This is a huge mess and wholly unprofessional, I fully expect that the BCFCBS publicity machine will soon be put into action and similar **** to this will happen again.

Holden will turn up to training and there will a new player that Ashton has signed probably in a wheelchair.

Bottom line though is the situation needs to Improve, just calling out a player isn’t going to work.

I agree totally and as I said the knock on is very important indeed, players are going to be put off signing for us, mud always sticks.

11 players, or whatever the figure is isn’t acceptable and questions should have been asked, that a player has had to brake ranks is poor, he shouldn’t have been put in the position to feel it was his only course of action. DH should have had his back. The situation this year with COVID has put extra pressure on the squad and made it more difficult to carry so many injuries due to so many games in quick succession, but it’s only highlighted a problem we’ve had now for several years

And to further our woes it looks like the FA are looking closely at our reasons for pulling out of the Brenford match and that brings up the possibility of punishment. The league brass are looking to clamp down on clubs cancelling fixtures because of Covid cases within their camps and tbh they should cancel all fixtures for the next 4-6 weeks to bring the issue under control. A punishment from the league would just bring the supporters down even further and let's hope the brass aren't looking for a team to carry the can just to make a point.

It is, a sort of diamond or reflected pyramid …
DH is the top of the pyramid, and the reflected top of the pyramid is the player … above the water line [ table contract pen ] separates the "team getting him to fulfill his potential on the pitch" and keeping him there. the below the water line [ reflection ] represents the team bringing him to the table and getting him to sign. … like most pyramids they all have different numbers of steps!

They look into every club, it is not specifically us. Our reason for the cancellation was we were unable to test due to test house closure. The test house is a FA specified one so that was out of our control. Plus Luton who we played the previous few days had positive test. And with the players doing that group hug for kick out reasons the risk was high. It was done with consultation with both FA and Brentford. It is just the FA always look further into after the event rather than risk a delay before deciding.

Totally agree, of course they’ll look at the circumstances, but I can’t see they can do much, that Luton had cases of COVID is fact, that the test centre was shut, again fact, maybe we did manipulate the situation, but I don’t see they can sanction us in any way given the circumstances, it’s a bit like managing games towards the end when you’re winning, we just made the best of the situation we found ourselves in. Cynical I know but that’s the way it is.

The world is waiting for the first case of some employer forcing some worker into work and they contract Covid. It’s going to be the new PPI
