He should try and win every game including the cup games. It’s the failure to do that by previous managers that has annoyed fans in the past.
Using the squad is just another expression for fielding a weakened team. Play the strongest team and play to win.

But the best team doesn’t usually win the cup. Luck plays a part as well. We shouldn’t have lost to Brentford in the League Cup. That would have put us in the semi finals with the prospect of having to win two games to win the cup. A bit of luck in those two games and who says we couldn’t have won it. I agree unlikely but not impossible. Same applies to the FA Cup. Arsenal will play a weakened side and a PL Club should playing a strong/first choice team against them should have a good chance of winning. Then we may get drawn for three rounds against lower league opposition. Who knows? But as “Teach” says if you go in with the wrong mentality then you’re harming your chances before the game even starts.

True. But I took the question to imply who did I think would win the Cup. There are the usual suspects which don’t include us and that selection usually ignores luck something we would currently need in order to win it.
But that just means they are the best. We can beat anyone on our day (internal sniggers) including the team with the best players\manager. The question was are we good enough not the best team in the world.
