Fair play to them. And once again the scourge of the modern game (agents) doing nobody any favours, though we should have known better.
Just business. They reject initial offer, we up the offer, they reject again and we will probably agree just north of halfway. A bit like the old rhyme: She offered her honour He honoured her offer And all night long He was on 'er and off 'er
More likely to be City trying it on a "small club" and could suffer if other clubs have been alerted and start an auction. Don't understand how City can make so many "odd" decisions in the market both in and out. Probably the two extremes of that is paying £6M for 28year old Madine but letting 24 year old Pato go for £500K to the Wendies - sheer madness. Glatzel now looks a bum move at £5.5M and don't get me started on £11M for Murphy.
Early days, but now a week into this window and the negative vibes are being felt already. Some questions.......... Why are these transfer windows always such a dissappointment at City? Are our expectations too high or is the ambition at the club too low? Is it about being realistic with justifiable financial constraints applied by Tan, or is it just a lack of drive from those charged with running the club over here? Apart from doubts about his ability, has Harris got any real say in the matter, or are affairs being dictated by non football orientated people fuelled by agents?
Wow, that's a tough test. High level of qualifications needed to answer. I guess the true responses would disappoint us all.
This is probably a very naive assessment, but surely Tan should see that his current managment team are not making sound decisions and that a board more experienced in football would offer him the chance of better returns on his investment. My guess is that Harris is a bit of a sychophant and has sucked up close enough to gain the privilege of having some say. Even if that's not the case, he would at least have some say in stopping players being bought that he doesn't want. The club at the moment is a mystery to me.
I think Tan is still smarting from that one - even at Premeir League level with Malky at the time. Then again, second time up there he allowed Warnock to spend £21M on Bobby Reid and Josh Murphy and then hardly played them. Maybe we got our money back on Reid but there's no way we'll see a return on Murphy. We are truly all over the place as a club. We have a non existent re-structuring plan driven by non existent footballing expertise.
Unsure if mentioned elsewhere but Harris has said today he’s not interested in Roberts but wants a striker.
I wonder what bargain basement player he has in mind? Steve Morison out of retirement or are Macheda and Ravell available?
Need a RB desperately seeing Bacuna’s lamentable effort to block the run leading to Forests opening goal
Looks like they had enough shots, just not many on target and of those none good enough to score. While I don't think he is that good, we are really missing Moore. I have tried to defend Glatzel but, at the end of the day, you can't defend the indefensible. Better than Masky's mate but not even at Zohore's level - who scored for Millwall today. Really need Morro, Tomlin, Moore and Tutu back soon. Apparently the latter is isolating having been diagnosed Covid positive, but with no ill effects.
