Misunderstood an on-line headline: The clap returns. Didn't link it with clap for carers, but thought it was another incidence of other diseases not being treated during the pandemic.<laugh>

I wonder if the rate of STIs has significantly dropped because of this. In theory it should have done. Teenage pregnancy too I would assume.

Just saw Hancock was at a vaccination centre, due to a logistics error no vaccine. More haste less speed syndrome?

I mentioned before that they were struggling to bottle the vaccine quickly enough, an issue that was considered as early as last March apparently.
The vials/bottles need to be a specific type of glass that doesn’t have any reaction with the contents, and from what I read this morning, there is a backlog of around 11 million doses, as in 15 million doses made, 4 million doses bottled.
Will see if I can find the link.
Not yet found the link about the amount still waiting for bottling.

From May 2020, reference bottle shortage.

First interview with Professor Sir Mike Stratton of the Sanger Institute Cambridgeshire, on the Today programme this morning. He discusses COVID sequencing, how they discovered the new variant by analysing the genetic code of the virus and how they are monitoring for new strains to combat the possible issues with vaccine escape. They have carried out such a huge amount of work since the beginning of the pandemic.

Not for me. Not while there are limited supplies of the vaccine. Any move like that would set an completely unacceptable precedent and pave the way to privatising the vaccine.

    No. No. And No.

Stop football instead. Every single vaccine has to go to those that need it. Not healthy 18-30 year olds. I get what he is saying about the testing, but as much as we like footie, if a game is off, then so be it.

Maybe the players should think twice about breaching any lockdown rules we all adhere to.

Completely agree....NO....football will always comes 2nd to people contracting this awful disease.
At least 14m people in the most dangerous groups need vaccinating fast.

Not until the first 15 million have been vaccinated at the very least.

No. Not until every Over 80 has been vaccinated, as well as every Over 70, every Over 65, everyone with any chronic condition, every care worker, every homeless person, in fact everyone other than super-healthy elite sportspeople.

There is some argument not to vaccinate them at all as they are all super fit.

That's why i said at the very least. I just picked that number as I believe it covers all of the shielding category.

A reasonable target would be next season imo.

If the theory is true that vaccination doesn’t prevent you carrying and transmitting the virus, then there is some merit in that argument.

Speaking of vaccine I found out today that there's a good chance I'll be offered it by the end of the month.

Also going to be doing some overtime to help book people in for it.
