Im sure you have other interests apart from football. People cherp on like they would have a mental breakdown if football was stopped. Man up.

I’m a bit surprised at that last remark from you sotonsaint as you’ve said yourself recently that you have suffered at times during these strange days. You might not see football as important enough for you or even as a release for others to help them through. Each person will have their own thing that helps them and that is their choice.

Mine for example is cycling. It’s kept me sane. Someone else may choose football.

    You’ve surprised me there fella

Lots of people are on the verge of a mental breakdown anyway tbh, and also aren't able to pursue other interests at the minute though.

I do take your point though. Anyone who thinks football is still going to help people's mental is deluded imo.

Fair point, I could of maybe phrased it a bit better. What I'm saying is, there's more to life than football even during these times.

Libby, you might remember at the start of the first lockdown I didn’t agree with football carrying on for many reasons and I still question it. I only say that so you see I’m not saying this from a football point of you. I don’t need it to help me.

However I don’t think it’s fair to say anyone is deluded about what they think anyone else needs to help their mental health through this. Why couldn’t there be people out there who’s only light each week is watching some games of football? It is entirely plausible. Mental health has no boundaries

I agree and for me I don’t need it, but others may.

Shame game not going ahead on Saturday. Hopefully the game will get played at some point. It will be good for some of the youngsters and fringe players to get some game time.

Think you've misunderstood me mate; I'm saying it's deluded to think that to improve people's mental health is the reason that it's still going. Which is how I read some posts (Which I may have understood tbf).

I'm not saying it's deluded for people to think it improves their own, that's quite clearly true for a lot of people.

This is what annoys me at the moment with football and any scenario involving covid. The Pool v Villa game was in doubt today due to X amount of positive tests , but they'll wait until tomorow to call it off! What can possibly improve by 9am tomorow . I Dont get it.

You may be referring to my post, and I apologise if my flippant remark should be taken that way. What I would say is that if anyone feels football helps them get through this then good for them. Like Fats, though, I wouldn’t want anyone to put their own health at risk to make sure football carries on.

Sotonsaint, nothing will improve between now and 9:00 tomorrow morning, but it will give the TV companies time to find another match, or another sport, to fill the hole in their schedule, thus satisfying the advertisers. Or am I unduly cynical?

Maybe they are holding back because currently there are enough players to fulfil the the fixture, but by tomorrow the numbers could have worsened, rather than improved, in which case it will be called off.

The biggest problem I see with this is what happens to the thread?

Does MBOTS do the next one? What if it is rearranged and MBOTS isn't the thread holder?

How does the dishwasher affect it?

Pleased to see you've got your priorities right. Should we have a poll?

Not on my watch. The way it works is that the thread author does the next thread unless Saints lose the game. There seems to be a fairly good chance we won’t lose this one.

I think MBOTS might be pushing his luck to claim this one as another clean sheet though...

TIOON, are the wheels starting to come off your dishwasher bandwagon? I seem to remember you saying that you had messed up the dishwasher, before we beat Liverpool. Or are you suggesting that if you had succeeded with emptying your dishwasher, we would have won by more? ;):smiley-finger007::smiley-finger007:
