Wasn't suggesting that for one moment Fats, useful trick in a nuclear strike you can kiss your arse goodbye.
Games off according to the Shrewsbury website. https://www.shrewsburytown.com/news/2021/january/club-statement-southampton-fixture/ No info on what happens next yet.
Saints' OS showing that the game has been cancelled, or at least postponed. A final decision on whether we are given a bye, or the match is rearranged, has not been made, yet. But if matches cannot be postponed (as stated in an earlier post), there does not appear to be any wriggle room - Shrewsbury effectively forfeit the match, as they cannot raise a team. Edit - RSS beat me to it!
The 4th round is weekend of 23rd/24th. We've got a PL game on the 20th. I wonder if the Leeds game will be moved to 12th/13th Jan. No reason why not with no fans. Then they can try and get the Shrewsbury game in on the 19th or 20th. That's the only possible way of avoiding Saints getting a bye really.
Because it's the right thing to do? Pretty sure Spurs did to Leyton Orient. I'll be embarrassed if we don't offer something. Imagine supporting a club less classy than Spurs.
Depends how you look at it I suppose - that may be double classy, or some would consider it patronising. I wonder if they would accept it if we offered ? - probably not. Reminds me of how I single handedly kept the skates solvent in 1976 (or was it 77). Anyway, Ian St John got Celtic to play an end of season money spinning friendly at nottarF because our fishy chums were on the bones of their ass. As a neutral in those days, I went to game and paid good money to get in. Celtic won 6-1 if I recall correctly, and Chis Kamara came on as a sub. The Neandertal locals started chanting `Jock Straps, Jock Straps...`, which seemed a bit moronic considering we were there for their benefit. Went right off them after that! My second ever game at the Dell was against the skates earlier that season when we won 4-0.
Don't see why not. Though perhaps for different reasons. Quite enjoyed us being the bigger person when we agreed to write off the money they owed us for tickets for the cup match in 2010.
We got our break this weekend. But if it ends up being a midweek game it's actually going to be worse for us. Oh well, control the controllables and hopefully all those infected at Shrewsbury recover quickly!
Well, pushing it a bit maybe, but did we not play matches at Fratton Park during the war? Bit of goodwill there?
Looks like Villa v Pool could also be off - Villa just announced they have a major outbreak of Co-Vid.
