Totally down to Trump. His inciting comments and failure to uphold the democratic process will be remembered in history as the President who disregarded the hard fought democracy that is the U.S. China & Russia must be laughing at Trump's failure and Kim Jong Un must be p****ing his pants at the failed dictatorship that is Trumpism. What must a young school-aged child in the U.S. be thinking about their country?
I'm sure that this will not be the only occasion that these idiots will try and destroy the will of the people. Just wait until Georgia State results come through as predictions suggest both Senate seats go to the Democrats.
Pretty sure this was allowed to go as far as it did. There is unbelievable security at the whitehouse.
'my issue is there is a fuzzy area that some people sit in where they will push an agenda that can push a narrative and influence others' 'This pushes a false narrative and can influence, whilst this fella doesn't have the reach to influence others, similar things happen all over social media and do have a reach, and it does incite people, especially if they have a predisposition to err towards that way of thinking, if they see a very selected 'news' feed of story after story, it's basically propaganda.' Willhoops yesterday. Ok wasn't quite expecting an example of this magnitude but...Trump, as far as I can see never called for violence, never called for the Capitol building to be stormed, but you have to be out to lunch to think these people would have done what they did because of his influence and what he said. However taking on board what was said on here yesterday, and again as he didn't use words calling for this directly, is he absorbed from all blame? Are the social media platforms pushing cancel culture by freezing his accounts? Are the media being critical of him not doing the same?
Pretty sure Ellers is marching into the HMV in Reading today demanding they play the original. Unfortunately it’s January and the shop is now an estate agent but his voice will be heard.
Trump hardly condoned the protesters and some of his comments were inciting which has lead to the death of four people in the riots. He could at least express some sympathy towards these victims, but he's too far up his own backside to see the harsh reality. I hope the Republican's invoke the 25th amendment and remove him from office before Jan 20th.
I agree, but technically his words have not called for this action directly, it's just thinly veiled, which is what I was getting at yesterday, the damage and potential threat that thinly veiled agendas can do, I just didn't realise one of the most influential people in the world would give such a high profile example.
There's a bunch of people claiming they love their country over in the US at the moment, how's that been going?
This was nothing but a last ditch attempt to stop a democratic process by a desperate man ( a bit like the 2nd referendum here ). I hadn’t realised they were having the march on the same day. I then found out about his tweets and message which was inciting the mob. Add the 11k vote phone call Into the mix and you have the answer. Trump embarrassed America yesterday in a way we have never seen. Even Bush was disgusted and that says it all. America needs some healing after this.
