It all started on Saturday after the game and immediately had the 2 main camps of BiB's and BoB's at each others throats, either offering alternative management bods or demanding that SB gets the rest of the season. Both sides so well entrenched, that there was a danger that mutual destruction would ensue and complete breakdown be incurred. Then came the bombshell, that wasnt really a bombshell in the end, with the news that Sir Niall Quinn of Wearmouth was stepping down as Chairman to allow our owner of the past 3 years to assume the role. Hardly Time magazine revelation really when you think about it was it but it didn't half focus us all on things since. Lol Maybe that was the intention to put a stop to the Bruce speculation and in fighting on Not606? Maybe they saw Syd and the other mods taking a hammering for the introduction of mag free threads and decided to step in and act? Maybe he read my posts and thought what an educated and well balanced lad that Cestriamackem is and decided to indeed throw Bruce to the Texan wolf? Lol Things is, whatever Niall decides to do next, he does it with all our support and affection and i can think of no-one better to be the face of our club around the globe. I can think of no-one better at this time to be the chairman in his place than our wealthy ambitious benefactor and I can see that whatever we may think, Steve Bruce is not the lame duck, dead man walking we BoB's may have thought and it would seem he is to receive a January budget soon. We shall see. In the meantime, our former Chairman and living legend is on a state visit to Korea, home of our newest recruit Ji Dong Won and also home to a host of incredibly wealthy successful companies. It would seem that new finance is sought and with Edward Thompson's deal ending at the finish if this season, a new shirt logo (I'll be pleased to see the Tombola name gone personally even if I am happy its a Sunderland company), a club sponsor and maybe even a new stadium name? The *********** Stadium of Light? The craas may have an idea but in seriousness, who may it be they are targeting? Samsung, Hyundai, Kia Group, LG Group, Daewoo or Bexel. All multi billion dollar, globally recognised brands and companies and thats without the financial sector being involved. It would be very good to attract any of them and the global connections they would bring us. Niall will be a good man to represent us and we can be proud and assured that he will bring us nothing but good wherever he goes and whoever he meets. The name of Sunderland AFC is in the best possible hands and I am genuinely proud and excited about Niall Quinn's new role, as he begins a new chapter in his long time love affair with our club. We were born here but there can be no doubt Niall was reborn a mackem. So, yes, the week may have started with turmoil but it ends in a kind of harmony I guess. The Bruce posts have declined in their ferocity, as have the personal stuff that has upset many in the past few weeks. Where will it end? Well who knows. A free football weekend this one but then its back to the good stuff and Arsenal away. Maybe it will all blow up again then if we are well and truly thumped but in the meantime, its good to have the peace imo. Lol
I agree with Cest on a great number of occasions, even going back to the BBC 606 days!!!This time,I would like to ask him a question.I know that "Tombola" sponsor Emmerdale on tele.but Idid not know they are a Sunderland firm. However, everyone has heard of Nissan,Kia etc.!Surely, they are the type of companies that our club should be looking at to be main shirt sponsors etc.Do you think, cest, that this is the area that Mr.Short wants Sir Niall to improve on??In my opinion,as a Premier league club,we should have a leading international brand as our main sponsor...not a local bingo site!
Got to say as well as the CRAA infestation, the BiB v BoB thing was getting right on my t i t s. Its not for us to decide who the manager is, surely thats the people in charge of the club's responsibility, and they know a helluva lot more about whats "really" going on than any of us. IMO all the BiB/BoB stuff was entirely futile, and we should all have been getting behind our "new" team, instead of constantly being on their backs - some of these players must wonder what they have walked into. So, lets give the lads our 100% unrivalled support like we know we can. It would be good to get 40000+ against the Villa too, so lets get out the pub and into the SOL. HAWAY THE LADS & FTM Bart
samsung and hyundia are unfathomably huge companies samsung employs something crazy like 300,000 people quinn is in the north though please log in to view this image kim jong il is a sunderland fan
Most definetly a business trip for sponsors etc.. A few names to go with the usual suspects of Samsung, Kia etc. Korean Air, anyone noticed just how much sponsorship airlines are doing. LG.... Hankook... Or maybe one of the Korean banks....
After Tombola I'm still apprehensive as to what our next sponsor will be, would love Samsung. Does anyone know when Umbro kit deal runs out?
They are contracted up until the 2011/12 season, and the company is unwritten by Nike so there would be no financial incentive to give the contract up to a rival.
I think our Mascot Delilah would look good in a Samsung top... On a serious note, I would love to see SAFC have closer links with Nissan. And it would also be great to see some of our players showing that they are not 'climate change' ignorant by abandoning their fuel guzzling cars and turning up to training in Nissan Leafs..Wouldn't that be great publicity for our club as well eh!
To be honest - I want the sponsor to be whoever is right for the business - not bothered if it's Tom's corner shop in pennywell - if he gives the club £10m a year for sponsorship the deal is his for me - it's not about the "Recognised brand on the shirt" - it's about Sunderland becoming a recognised brand and about the club being financially sound from a fair play persopective - it's all well and good saying Samsung but if they sponsor us for £2m a year and we turn down £10m a year it really isn't good business sense is it? All about the money boys and girls (and trolling)
To be honest I doubt it will end until Bruce is shown the door. The reason is because I and many other fans genuinely believe that the club is more likely to be relegated under his guidance as opposed to reaching Europe (or the 4th round of a cup competition, for example). I suppose your post illuminates the apathy that has now become entrenched within the minds of the average intelligent fan who CAN see what the fundamental problem at our club is. A manager with a proven track record of relegation who has decimated a squad, which under the guidance of a top quality manager should have quite easily qualified for the Europa league and has since replaced those players with a squad that is now hovering just above the trap door with which Bruce is all to familiar. When we say we are happy because SAFC don't have a game this weekend... I'm left with no other thought other than thats about as poor as things can be, other than being relegated.
I quoted cestria who said it was good to have the peace this weekend (Due to SAFC not playing and clearly his words are founded in anticipation of another barrage of personal and internet turmoil). As opposed to not having peace and SAFC having a game this weekend. Many a truthful word spoken in jest.
No I don't but going public with your thoughts tend to suggest that you like an arguement. I'm here to make my feelings clear on the state of our club, like it or lump it. I would absolutely be willing to eat humble pie if Bruce were to succeed, absolutely. However I'm not so sure I will ever get to taste that illusive pie...
Who was that soft ****e posing as me and posting peaceful, lovely dovey stuff. **** him, Bruce and everyone. Its Mr Hydes turn to come out and play........Lol Serioulsy guys, I didnt want to mentione Bruce this weekend and just wait for the Arsenal game where, undoubtedly, his name and that of his management will again be a discussion point. I just think unless there is a complete crash, Bruce isnt going anywhere and us all falling out over it isnt worth it really. Is it? Lets instead focus our anger at the bespectabled sour faced pratt in charge of our national game this weekend. Me and Jamie Carragher are as one on this subject.
Yep the England match... Don't seem to be a lot interested in it, but i am... Just think at some point in the game, there could be a strike force that was at SAFC last season... (well at least for part of the season)... Wellbeck and Bent, let's see how they hit it off, if given the chance..
