Which is why I posted the report that you were not aware of, which suggests differently. There seem to be others, also from credible sources too.

I've no real desire to get in to an argument on this. I've posted the video and report, so people can make up their own minds.

My wife had her first investigative operation and consultants appointments in the General. The major operation, blood tests and chemo therapy where all done in the nearby Spire private hospital. This is a Covid clean hospital, my wife had to have a clear Covid test every time she went in. She had one yesterday, before this appointment.
The MacMillan wards are in the main hospital.
My belief is that Southampton has and is providing the best treatment it can in circumstances. But the signs are there that this is going to be a very difficult time. We had a torrid time during the first lockdown so heaven knows what new cancer patients will be going through now.

Went for a long walk today to pass a couple of hours.... shocked at the amount of cars on the road and even more shocked that 4/5 of them were driven by people in my age group.... also, it seems there are not many firms that have stopped working...

The UK has recorded the highest number of COVID-related deaths during the second wave of the pandemic - and the highest daily increase in cases.

Another 1,041 people died within 28 days of testing positive for the virus, along with another 62,322 cases, the latest government figures show.

Very true. Journalists today are very poor in the main and go for sensationalism in order to get noticed rather than to inform people.

If people can work from home they will.
Most companies have in place sale working environments now and are used to it. Tradesman will / should now be used to working in a safe and socially distanced way. Main difference back in April and May that was nobody could get building materials and factories and suppliers were shut so they mostly couldn't work.

As for people just milling around, that's just daft
Stay at home, no real need to be out and about except for essentials.

It’ll reach a point that those that have it spread to them are the ones that won’t be significantly ill and there’ll be no stress on the NHS.

Some latest research indicates both vaccine and previous infection immunity is good for 8 months base line so in future a once a year jab in autumn for those vulnerable should do the job

Saw Nadhim Zahawi n breakfast this morning - literally had the look of a man who'd been given a hospital pass. Not reassuring.

They were breaching the rules, as you yourself flagged up, it’s a shame some have such difficulty in respecting them (that’s not aimed at you).

Those rules seem to be enforced a bit arbitrarily, as even mods discuss politics.

It’s very difficult to administer the rules normally on a thread like this, as there’s inevitably some straying into politics when discussing lockdowns etc, it’s a fine line.

That said, most posters seem to find it much easier to stay on the right side of that line than you do.
