I agree with everything other than the last paragraph, had our meltdowns been a one off instead of an annual occurrence over 3 seasons, you might have point but 3 seasons on the trot is unforgivable. The data is important because it shows a pattern, some try too blame sales but only Brownhill was sold in a January window, so that is a non argument for a start.
Are you serious? No wins in LJ's last 9 games, just 2 draws, 8 wins in the last 26 games of 2019/2020.
And now we have a vast improvement...I hope you're right, we shall see at the end of the season, I guess!!
You hope i'm right about what exactly? Where have I said anything about a vast improvement? Blame the owners and especially Ashton, they gave Holden the job not me, they went (not for the first time) for the cheap option, it's not my fault that they could not replace a failing manager, with somebody half decent and it's not my fault that our transfer (buying) policy is such a joke, I leave you with the expensive cock up and whoever signed him Kasey Palmer 3.5 mil and 20k per week, that is utter madness, we could have signed Lucas Joao + Williams for that money and had over 1 million left over to find a proper right wing back.
You keep saying that LJ was the failure, but then say Owners & Ashton are the failures..................with that in mind...you're basically saying our club isn't going anywhere... We've sacked LJ according to you was a failing manager and with no improvement are you also saying maybe new owners and the sacking of Ashton is required?
Given his record from February onwards Jesus Christ himself would have been sacked, any manager in the 4 leagues and the conference would have been sacked, so yes he failed. The owners and Ashton were major factors in that failure, 3 January windows could and should have given us even just the minimum improvement to see us into the play offs and had it maintained the early season form, who knows where it would have taken us? So unless our January policy changes then yes we are going nowhere, but hey I have been a fan long enough to know, this is Bristol City and anything could happen in the next half an hour.
I thought that you said you ran your own business (or maybe you didn't), so I will take that as an attempt at being facetious? So I am sure you are aware business owners you can what you please, including sacking failing employees and that was the decision of the owner, his little boy, the man who would be king and the minion/minions on the board if we still have one, not mine, not even RP or Wiz and not the fans in general. My point is and I am very sure that you know this already, that unless there is a sea change involving our transfer (buying) policy especially in January, then I believe that we are going nowhere.
We did a thread on here a few years back about what jobs we did. He didn't say he ran his own business back then.
You didn't answer the question....just a bit of waffle!! LJ in your eyes was a complete failure and needed to be sacked. He was replaced by a different coach, Both their appointments "cheap option" your words, "Transfers policy a joke in your words. So unless our January policy changes then yes we are going nowhere" your words. I'm asking a perfectly straight forward question. If Deano fails to take us further than our previous coach. The transfer polices remain the same with our club going nowhere. Your blame is aimed directly at Ashton & The owners.. Should they depart, sack Ashton & for SL call it a day and sell, allowing for us to progress?
Just because I didn't mention it before, then it couldn't have happened!! ....I've never mentioned I have a swimming pool, doesn't mean I don't have one!! I Didn't realise this was question time in Colditz!! ..........
Ashton, 100% yes for me, I believe he has been played for a fool in terms of fees and wages by Premiership clubs, as he has been so keen to kiss their ar$e$, they saw him coming a mile away. I will say that he has done very well in negotiating what seems good prices for the players we have sold - £10m for Bobby Reid, and £26 million for Webster, in particular, was good business. SL is not so easy to call. I used to think he was all about the club; whereas, now I feel he is more about Bristol Sport, and City have suffered as a result of that. I liken it to Richard Branson with Virgin Airlines, when it was his No1 passion they were great, but as he diversified the Virgin empire, the standards and his passion and attention dropped off massively, and I feel SL is too caught up in all Bristol sports, that he has handed too many of the reigns to MA. That said, who else is out there with the love of the City and club who would make it their passion project? Probably nobody, so unless it's a Chinese, Russian or Saudi mega-money team - which brings its own issues... we should stick with SL.
My point in all of this is, that LJ has been made the scapegoat on here for our lack of success, an easy source to blame!! We have bigger issues that need to be resolved before enabling us to progress. Not just the recent appointed coaches at fault, it has to run deeper into the structure of the club..IMO.
there has to be a bedding in new head coach [ knows what we have ] may have been not so sure of how LJ ran things??? and could readily have been an instrument in his demise??? with 2 new coach's that have been " head coach's" they will have a method of how their success was achieved … so getting 3 shapes to form a common one might not happen in first season!
Bristol City recall Kasey Palmer from Swansea City to add to midfield options Robins have pondered bringing back the playmaker for several weeks. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/bristol-city-recall-kasey-palmer-4852277 https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/palmer-back-in-bs3/
Palmer only started twice, so maybe LJ and DH are not the only ones not convinced he's up to the challenge of Championship football on a regular basis. I feel this is 100% a make or break half-season for Palmer, fail now and he will drift down the leagues like JET did, or end up at lower end clubs, as Tomlin did.... Nothing will change my mind that signing him was all about MA brown-nosing Chelsea, rather than adding real value to the squad, it was as clear as could be that LJ didn't want him.
Bit of a strange one for me is Palmer.....When he first came to us on loan, I thought he looked a decent player, certainly had ability in abundance..has to be in the mood!! The problem with his type of player, is where, how and whom you play him with.....not sure apart from the short time he played alongside Afobe where he fitted. Hopefully Deano can get more from him.....would be like a new signing if it comes off!
City are clutching at straws hoping Palmer will turn the results around. Before City he was at various clubs on loan and none wanted him. He's not a regular at Swansea either. What I'll never understand is why we paid £3.5million and £20k a week after having him here on loan. Utter madness.
