3 million children went to school today, for one day.

People accepted there would be a lockdown a week ago.

I just don't understand why this was done, there will have been people infected because of it and all pointless.

And the resulting spread will result in deaths. The right don't seem to hold much value on the indervdual life that doesn't effect them otherwise they'd be turning on their PM and going against the whip. Labour's failure to oppose this **** is even worse. They don't give a **** about us. Sad the sheep and walkovers can't see it.

Starman(?) challenged Boris to get the £13b spent on the world leading test, track and trace system up and running during the 4 week Lockdown in November/December, but there's not been a squeak out of him or anyone else since... Until tonight when a school report said we should only reopen when we have a test, track and trace system in place

    I've unashamedly nicked this from another forum, but;
    Sunday...."the schools must remain open".
    Monday...."the schools must close".
    Says it all really!!

He's been weak as piss mate. Simply not fulfilling the duty of the opposition. Who ever is in power it's the oppositions job to hold them to account. In a healthy govt the opposition is as strong as those in the majority. Politics in this country is weak as piss whether you're on the left or the right. I don't understand why so many can't see all this for what it is.

Put aside politics for one minute, regardless of that.

The NHS will be overwhelmed in 21 days, no ifs, no buts, no looking back at what should have/could have been.

Thats the only thing that matters now, the human side to this, that tonight, tomorrow and for the next 21 days our hero's in the nhs will fight tooth and nail, without a thought for themselves to keep everyone in their care safe.

They deserve our respect, they deserve our compliance with the rules. We as a nation need now more than ever before excluding the wars to come together and regardless of what the government says look after each other.

That's all commendable, and of course we all respect the front line workers ...

... but that won't help some people from feeling let down by their government.

Their tone has been wrong from the start, which I said in March, and we're still hearing how world beating we are.

The PM is always talking about fighting, and clenching his fists, as if it makes him look brave ...

... in reality, it's making tough decisions at the right time and speaking uncomfortable truths that's brave.

Wanting to be popular isn't that imo.

    Stolen from a mate....

    AT GROCERY STORE:
Me: Why is there plastic on the payment keypad?
Cashier: to protect people from Covid.
Me: but isn’t everyone touching the plastic keypad the same way they would the regular keypad?
    Cashier: no words. Confused look.
Me : Why Dont you pack the grocery bags anymore?
Cashier : Because of covid 19 to reduce the spread of catching or spreading the virus.
Me : But a shelf packer took it out of a box and put on the shelf, a few customers might of picked it up and put back deciding they Dont want it, I put it in my trolley then on the conveyer belt, YOU pick it up to scan it. But putting it in a bag after you scan is risky?
    Cashier: no words, confused look
    AT DRIVE-THRU:
Server: (holds a tray out the window with a bag of food for me to grab)
Me: why is my bag of food on a tray?
Server: so I don’t touch your food because of Covid.
Me: Didn’t the cook touch my food? Didn’t the person wrapping my food touch it and then touch it again when placing it in my bag? Didn’t you touch the bag and put it on the tray? Didn’t you touch the tray?
    Server: no words. Confused look.
    In SOCIETY:
Society: If you cough or sneeze do it in your elbow or sleeve. Dont shake hands or hug anyone or you will spread the virus. To greet people do an elbow tap instead.
Me: Elbow tap? Isn't that where you tell people to sneeze or cough? into their elbow? Now you want people to tap each other with that elbow. Wouldn't it be safer to sneeze into elbow and shake hands like we did before Covid
    AT RESTAURANT:
Hostess: ok, I can seat you at this table right here (4 feet away), but I will need you to wear a mask to the table.
Me: what happens when I get to the table?
Hostess: you can take off the mask.
Me: then it is safe over there?
    Hostess: yes.
Me: are those fans blowing above the table? Is that the air-conditioning I feel? Is the air circulating in here?
    Hostess: no words. Confused look.
    SOCIETY
You are not allowed to stand and drink at the pub or bar, you have to sit down. But at the shopping centre you are not allowed to sit down, all the chairs are roped off.
    Who thinks this stuff up?
Life is hard for logical people right now. We are being raised without the ability to process and execute logic.

Which is exactly the point I was trying to make, it matters not one iota which side of the political fence you are on or if you think they have done a great job or a **** job.

We are in this position and all of us need to do our bit again.

When we finally come out of this, that will be the time to have the political debate and either praise them or hold them to account

To be fair mate, I'm doing none of those things, just voicing my opinion on a little chat forum ...

...doesn't mean I'm not doing my bit, I've barely left the house since March and avoided going to the UK to see my family.

Without political pressure u turns can't be forced for the better(free school meals recently). Politics never goes away and I think burying heads on the matter when every decision being made is of massive political importance which effects every single persons way of life is just daft.

I urge the media to speak up, for the public to take to social media and for the opposition to turn he screw. It's all part of our democracy and shouldnt go missing when a nation is looking to their leaders to save their loved ones. I won't conform and shut up like a doormat. It's life or death for people and could be for me and my loved ones at some point so when my Govt goes from one reactory train wreack to another I'm going to speak up and thank god others do too

I went to work today and can 100% guarantee nothing we produced today is in any way shape or form crucial to keeping the country going, I need to be careful here but I’m in a senior position and after the announcement last night I contacted my boss and asked him what our stance is and would I need to organise a shut down, I was spoken to like a dog and told “ we close if we are told to “
Far too many businesses are using the same approach and putting profit 1st instead of their employees, I voiced my opinion this morning and was told to remember my place. Now I know we can’t keep closing businesses down and hide away from this virus forever but the fact remains this virus is spreading in workplaces that simply should not be open.

I agree. At this time of national (indeed, international) crisis, what we need is unity. There has been no 'holding anyone to account', the political points-scoring has just continued unabated. Labour have criticised the government at times when it's been unuseful, or even detrimental, and the government have prevaricated when they shouldn't have to make it look like they weren't bowing to Labour pressure. Both sides should have said at the start of this that they would work together for the national good and kept the debating behind closed doors. That would have been the best thing for the country as a whole.
