All I know is it'll be very limited work for me again if it's "full lockdown" and I could very much do with the money if truth be told as savings dont last forever unfortunately.
Well, i know me & you haven’t always seen eye to eye, but I’m hoping that doesn’t happen for your sake, and 100’s thousands across the country, as that is a pretty ****ty place to be. All the best, here’s hoping it isn’t a full lockdown
Thats the **** part. I think we need to lock the country down but I’m also aware of how much it affects people’s earnings and mental health. You need to make sure you get back whatever is available in terms of government support. I know this sounds easy and a bit flippant, but it’s not meant to be. It is a **** time and affecting lots of people. Wishing you the best I wanted us to lock down for 4 weeks from mid-December to mid-January. Seemed sensible time to do it, with school Holidays already part of that and lots of people stopping work then. missed that one though.
There should be a safety net for all. That the 6/7the biggest economy can't or won't provide such is ****ing criminal. There's going to be nice shiny new trident missiles, oh and isn't there a fancy new gunboat with flying machines that can be sent out to terrify the truculent natives?
Arrived in Dubai last night. As Kuwait has added U.K. to the list of banned countries I needed to fly here, test negative and then have 14 days here before testing negative again and finally being able to go back to work and my home. Asked work if I could stay in U.K. and work remotely but they thought I’d get stuck there if I stayed. Now anxiously awaiting the results of my post-flight test so that I’m able to be freed from my hotel room. My family still can’t travel with me because the visa issuing is a nightmare in London and locally. Unless the situation improves significantly in the U.K. I won’t be able to see them until my contract expires in another 8 months.
More brexit triumphs https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...onals-non-essential-travel-brexit-coronavirus A Dutch border force spokesman confirmed on Monday that up to 13 British citizens had been turned away at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport since Friday because their trips were not necessary and third-country coronavirus regulations now applied. The news came after British citizens living in Spain were barred from boarding flights in the UK because the airline said their pre-Brexit residency papers were declared no longer valid, while others were refused entry to Germany. There were also reports of passengers turned away from KLM flights from UK airports to the Netherlands because they did not have a negative test, their journey did not qualify as essential, or they could could not show proof of Dutch or EU residency. Can only hope some of those were leave voters.
Yes, I agree whole heartedly. Furlough is in place until end of April I think, but they need to capture all at the same time as stopping the chancers. That’s a tough part for the government.
Cheers guys... That's the problem with all that are self employed during all this. I'm working/earning to much to meet the criteria for extra help from the GOV but the amount I'm working ain't really enough for what I need, so what do I do, cant win either way. I'm not gonna be living under a bridge anytime soon that's not the issue. Its just a really ****ed up time all round.
I can foresee a future where most things are done at a distance and people don't travel even for holidays....this will be good for climate change and reduce the risk of pandemics. Just as in the past....you are born in a country and mostly stay there.
