Apparently Arsenal Execs are renegotiating a shirt deal that will be at least as lucrative as Champions league income. Both would be good
It has been stated in the past that we were short changed with the Emirates sponsorship deal as we were desperate for money for the new stadium
Well Pal Point 4 takes us back to where we are and all the discussions we've had here, doesn't it? David Dein and Alisher Usmanov are unlikely to be seen on the board for the interim but who knows what Stan Kroenke has in mind to do. Thus far there are no actions that are discernible. CL is vital for us next year if we intend to stay competitive. It's not just the money. It's a lot more than that but Mr Gazidis seems to think covering the money is fine. I read further this morning that FFP in it's early years discounts a lot of the wages paid so the rules themselves will not be as effective in the early years which may explain why clubs like Chelsea and City can try to get their transfer business done and worry about the FFP later. If of course their owners are prepared to take out more shares in the clubs or in other words leave their money in, then my understanding is that the restriction of maximum allowable losses will not apply. FYI this would fall to from £39.5 or £26.3 to £4.4m unless owners place long term funds with the clubs in the form of shares. Mr Epistoleros was trying to draw our attention to it as well http://www.sportingintelligence.com...-wages-dont-count-for-first-two-years-010205/
Well I think those big clubs are simply trying to forestall the day of reckoning. You can bet Jay, that they all have the best accountants and sports lawyers working on this. They and the marketing men to vastly increase their commercial revenues. Tell you what - I'll bet Mr Abramovich is rich enough to buy everyone in Russia a Chelsea shirt. Now that would boost their commercial take!!! And then he can go out and get more sponsors because, hey presto, Chelsea are successful on the pitch and at the bank. I would like to come back as an oligarch in my next life. As you know, I'll still be wearing an Arsenal shirt
