    Or maybe there isn't?

"There may still be hold-ups. There is enough of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine for 4 million people, but most of it is not yet in vials in its finished form and nor has it all been batch-certified, as required under the temporary emergency approval given by the UK regulator. Only 530,000 doses are ready to go into people’s arms across the UK on Monday."

Many people were saying at the start, that a significant issue for vaccines was not just finding it, or having the logistics to roll it out, but that there were not enough facilities capable of making the phials. Hopefully, as this was flagged up very early on, this has been addressed, but the initial claims detailed a number of reasons why that would be problematic.

I wonder if it's the same on mobile contracts as many young people only have those so would need to tether to them?

Indeed, but the reason I put the gruniard article up is the somewhat differing numbers from one paper to the next. 20 million?

A factory in Wrexham was given the go ahead to bottle(?) the vaccine. Plant capacity is 150,000 a day. Unless there are other plants in the UK geared up for production, it will be a while before we are all inoculated.

ps just re-read your initial reply, phials not bottles. hey ho

There is also the issue of staff to inject the vaccine. My sister who is a RGN but not currently working has applied for a job to give the vaccines - she has spent 3 days watching webinars and then having to do do tests on subjects such as radicalisation training and safeguarding children in order to be able to submit her CV

The media really need to have a long hard look at themselves as an industry, as Covid is just one in a long line of examples where they have let us all down with trying to sensationalise, rather than inform and support. I have very little confidence in anything I read or hear from them, and tend to dig around for the source.

It's crazy, that with all the communication around, we're still so badly informed, and that's not all down to the Government of the day.

There is, but they seem to be making big strides to address that with a number of schemes.

German health ministry considers delaying second COVID-19 vaccine shot.

The German health ministry is seeking advice on whether to delay administering a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from BioNTech and Pfizer to make scarce supplies go further, according to a document seen by Reuters on Monday.

The ministry is seeking the view of an independent vaccination commission on whether to delay a second shot beyond a 42-day maximum now foreseen, after a similar move by Britain, according to the one-page document.

The update, dated Sunday, follows widespread criticism over the weekend of Health Minister Jens Spahn - including from his conservative political allies - that Germany has failed to procure enough vaccine and been too slow to ramp up a nationwide inoculation campaign.

the seasonal flu jab i had a few weeks ago doesnt seem to have lessened the effects of the flu im suffering at the moment.
i wonder would i have been even more ill if i hadnt had the flu jab?

i have no idea of what the symptoms are and how it pans out time wise and i darent doctor google it because thats when we all find out we have terminal cancer of the toes or probably pregnant but i have at least 9 things going on.

good to know none of my family have it despite me seeing them xmas day. and the 3 guys i worked with last week are fine.

im glad im doing my bit to help achieve herd immunity

As I understand it the flu jab is different each year that protects against what are predicted to be the mist prevalent strains for the current “flu season”.

It may be that you’ve contracted a strain different to what you were vaccinated against.

Full lockdown coming to Scotland from midnight tonight. Sounds like exercise and essential journeys (supermarket shop, medicine, key workers etc) will be the only reasons people are allowed outside. Statement at 2pm.

I suspect we won't be all that far behind.

Scotland say that they expect it to be May before they've given the first jab to everyone over 50 and everyone under 50 with underlying heath issues.

Will they be leading them around the parade ring and then into Tattersalls for the jabs?
