I'm just getting the feeling that we've gone from 2 million vax a week to let's just get the 1st jab done suggesting the incompetents have realised, like they did with testing, that they have managed to be just as unprepared for the rollout, both in supply & distribution. If so, with the number of cases soaring, many may not get the vax in time. I hope I'm wrong...

Bell was talking with a lifetime of expertise, which counts for a lot imo.

So the focus is on protecting the NHS rather than stopping the spread of the virus.

I'm not sure that's the case.

During his interview, John Bell explained that the process has to be slow at the beginning, just in case there are any serious bad reactions. Belts and braces and makes sense to me.
He says that the numbers will go up very quickly after this week.

    Both, I think.

Once people can't pass on a serious illness it's more under control no?

I would agree. If I personally could see evidence then my mind would be reassured. This not so much aimed at John Bell but rather in general. We keep getting told things that have no evidence to confirm. We cant just take peoples words as gospel, like Johnson saying schools are safe. They are obviously not. The evidence of schools shutting pre xmas is proof enough. It's about time someone had the bollox to ask him to prove these things. It's about time we all asked for evidence regarding decision making. Enough is enough.

That's my thinking. So my common sense says stop using our vaccinations on the elderley and vulnerable and use them on the people treating the elderley and vulnerable. Then treat them in the next phase, whenever that will be.

For me, there's a world of difference between trusting a doctor or scientist and a ****ing politician.

Bell quoted a 90 something percent protection rate for most people to not get seriously ill with one jab. This must be based on something.

Anyway, I was only trying to offer another perspective, I'm not John Bell's spokesman.

I thought Pfiser said their 2nd vaccine jab should be taken 21 days after the first, and that they had no test data on how it would work or not if the 2nd jab was delayed. Think Moderna said the same about their vaccine, 2nd jab due after 28 days.

I was under the impression that care workers and front line staff are getting it first as well.

Sis in law has had first one. So they are getting them. Her 2nd one has been mentioned by her boss as maybe being a different company (not confirmed).

I'm not arguing with you mate. Just trying to clarify it in my own head. He must have evidence of that to say such a thing or maybe it's just an educated guess, granted a well educated guess in comparison to a politician.

I read something similar. It may still work or it may well not. At least theyve said they dont have the data to prove either way.

    Agreed.
As I said, Bell quoted a percentage so he must be basing that on something.
At the end of the day, this is a **** storm of epic proportions and I don't know what to believe anymore.
Just trying to hang on to something positive I guess.
Otherwise we all just sit around, like Piers ****ing Morgan and do nothing but criticise everything in an ever decreasing circle of depression.

Actually no. Just like Lord King from alternative SAGE. Spends all his time moaning about the government for political reasons.

This is what I have heard today:
Tories want kids back in schools but some schools don't believe this is safe... understandable.
Labour want Schools to stay open but have a lockdown? <doh> work that one out?
The government has made a bit of a mess up with the volunteers for administering the vaccine. I heard an experienced woman who has done tens of thousands of injections offering to give up 20 free hours a week to help out only to find that the on-line application is a nightmare. I won't go into the questions on terrorism.<yikes>
Finally a Labour peer said today that she doesn't understand the vaccination program and wait for it... 'the government has made it confusing' about time they lost that old chestnut.
Other than that, we should all be happy that the Oxford vaccine is out today and what a pleasure it was to listen to a non-political professor from the Oxford group who not only explained and enlightened me but didn't come with all the political baggage. <applause>

It would be newsworthy if they came up with something that wasn’t confusing.

blimey Watford you are a troll! my last 10 posts have been followed straight after by you!
Truth is that old 'confusion' chestnut has died a death. Labour should listen to one of its big supporters who said last week "in 2021 people need to know who Starmer is, because he is invisible". Rather than play politics with Covid, Mr Starmer should concentrate on one plan of action... 'Schools should stay open but we need a National lockdown' ? WTF!
