Hopefully he'll go and score 10 goals in 20 games for Swansea, and duly persuade Sheff Utd to pay £23m for him in the summer.
He’s also slipped behind N’Lundulu and Long in the pecking order, so a loan for 6 months might be the best option for him and Saints, assuming he gets more game time at Swansea.
I get the impression that he isn't applying himself enough. I know he divides opinion but I think he has potential. The situation reminds me rather of Nathan Dyer who was similarly shipped out to Swansea following reports of discipline issue but who ultimately came good. Regular football will due Obafemi good although the current situation with players falling victim to Covid, the decision to load players out when they may be required seems a bit short-sighted. At the beginning of the season, Obafemi was my tip to be the next youngster to come good.
It's an odd one.... Ralph has called him out before (not in a Mourinho way) about how he hasn’t looked after himself properly in terms of preparation/fitness but has still played him and dangled the carrot. Despite that, something appears amiss if they are happy to send him out to a club where they may well undo all the training in the way Ralph likes... if it’s true it’s got loan to buy written all over it. With Dyer, there was a slightly ugly small group of young lads who the club hadn’t remotely got a handle on, the group were disbanded with Dyer bearing the brunt. I can’t see that Ralph would let that kind of thing even remotely start to fester as it had before. Ultimately, if he’s good enough for Ralph, he is for me.... if he’s not, we march on to someone else...
Maybe, i think the important piece is we are touting him about. I’d be surprised if Yan was what Schalke needed just now, they are the Sheff Utd of Germany. Although if they are listening to what we say on here - he is top draw, cant believe he doesn’t get as much game time, and Barca will be sniffing around him this time next year
