    This is so unfair...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-55476449

Asking hospital staff to cancel their holidays puts them under massive new emotional pressure, on top of the stress they are already under.
Most will do it I expect, even if it breaks some of them.

Every scumbag rule-breaker out there should be made to see what pain they are inflicting.
Slaps on the wrist are just not enough.

    UPDATE:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-55511169

All London primary schools are now to remain closed for the present.
    Hallelujah.
I know this policy is drastic and not taken lightly. And I appreciate it will affect the ability of many parents to go to work - sadly at very short notice too.
But I believe it is the right thing to do.

Secondary schools & colleges / Unis should also remain closed until the infection & hospitalisation rates are really coming down.
Even if that takes a month or more.

Matt le Tissier declared himself an anti vaccer some weeks ago. What an irresponsible ****er, particularly when he has over 500,000 followers on social media.

People that dismiss this virus in whatever form need to take a long hard look at themselves.
The reformed midget still thinks that these clowns ought to catch a dose of it themselves to see that it is real.

I used to have respect for Le Miss, as he seemed a decent pundit on Sky, and I have a natural respect for one club players.

But I've lost all my respect for him now.
    He's a fool.

Liking some arseh*le who thinks China is a good example of how we should live our lives?
    "Fully open"? <laugh>
The country is a giant slave labour camp.
And NOTHING they say about controlling Coronavirus or anything else can be trusted in the Free World.

Matt, you've let yourself down and you're mugging off everybody who follows your loony beliefs.
Now f**k off and get a room with David Icke.

My sister-in-law has just arrived in Barbados for a family funeral. Barbados was Covid-free until recently, when a crowd of British tourists rocked up and didn't observe the quarantine regulations. Deja-vu.

Jet-setting for holiday purposes is totally out of order right now.

International tourist travel into & out of the UK should be BANNED.

What does so called Tier 5 mean, in reality ?

    Two things -

The closure of schools - which affects the most disadvantaged kids (fact), working parents and grandparents. It pleases nobody other than the highly Unionised & extreme teaching unions. Mary Bousted FFS - I wouldn’t employ that woman to teach my dog to wee.

The cancellation of live sport, which again has a negative impact on the well being and mental health of the Nation. The two sports that I am most passionate about - horse racing and of course football, have exemplary and rigorous Covid protection measures in place.

You also don’t need Tier 5 because all evidence suggests that the same ignorant sub humans will break the rules & continue to spread the virus, regardless.,

A lot of teachers are being bloody lazy, IMO. Not all - but a lot. Everything should be done to keep kids in class at school. Even change the vaccination priorities, and give teachers the jab in January. These kids do not get their life chances back.,

Schools are where kids pick up the virus then take it home.
The kids themselves are almost always asymptomatic. They don't get ill, but they infect vulnerable relatives who do then get sick.

As for live sport? the Premier League will be safeguarded, as too many people stand to lose too much money if it were to be stopped.
The other leagues, and other sports, are spreading the virus - albeit only a fraction as much as keeping the schools open.

The choice is the Government's, of course.
They'll be damned if they do, and damned if they don't.
Meanwhile infections just keep going up and up.

Rule breakers spread the virus as much as school kids do, but nobody is willing to deal with that effectively because draconian measures will push us towards Martial law and civil unrest. Those consequences are still considered worse than the proportion of infections currently being caused by people who are flouting the rules.

    PS:

Tables updated at the top of page 1.

The UK and Germany are suffering the worst in Europe at present.
How Germany largely escaped the first wave but has taken the full force of the second wave is a mystery.
    What has changed there?
Surely their people didn't just get 'fed up' of pandemic rules and stop following them?

Whilst I agree with Dr Kojak and schooling, I am with you all the way with keeping the s**** at HOME.
They need to be controlled as they have zero respect of these worrying times.

It all feels very reactive but I don't envy anyone making the decisions in govt or civil service - it's a trade off after all.

Closure of schools increases disruption = increasing inequality gap.
Failure to close increases spread = more deaths.

Enforce stricter rules through prison sentences etc & you risk civil unrest
Fail to do so and the virus continues to spread out of control

I found Greenwich Park quite scary today, the number of joggers not observing any social distancing while puffing and panting their way round. Won't be going there again.

Over 50,000 new positive tests every 24 hours for six days straight now in the UK.

Even at the recent height of their second wave, France did not have over 50,000 for more than 3 consecutive days.
And as far as I know, no other European country has registered more than 40,000 in any 24 hour period.

We have to get this coming down.
In a couple of weeks, the 24 hour fatality numbers will crash through 1,000 per day.
