Boris Johnson said there was "no doubt in my mind that schools are safe".
Erm why are they all shutting in London then? I think everyone knows that what happens in Johnsons mind and what happens in reality are worlds apart! Watch the infections rate climb higher and higher. When will the silly twat ever learn.

That's a very good question Col and one that these people get paid vast amounts of money to decide. I suppose the answer lays within another question. How serious are they in stopping the transmission of this disease?

He’s not trying to convince you though. There are millions of people who will take his word for it and therefore feel more comfortable about their grandchildren’s safety before going back to worrying about house prices and illegal immigration.

It's a bizarre situation really. People told not to mix with others, rule of 6, only meet one family etc etc, depending on your Tier. Outrage when they witness people not adhering to this yet happy enough to send their child to school in a class with 29 plus other children, whom they have no idea whether those others have been following guidelines or not. That one class could stretch to thousands of contacts. Strange

There are millions of people in outrage of seeing groups out and about breaking rules yet not so outraged in sending their child to a unknown breeding ground for this virus, not even knowing who they are mixing with.

    Your post said
So, you are talking rubbish. If you post rubbish at least own up to it when you are wrong.
PS plenty of ministers have also had jobs in the real World. Stop talking utter nonsense.

    mmm just remembered something!
None of the people in government would survive long if they were employed in the real world.
Ben Wallace who is in the cabinet served in the army (did very well on operations) is that what you mean by real World? Is that not a real Job? or Rishi Sunak working in a bank... is that not a real job? Or Maybe George Eustice working on a family farm is not a real job?

    re Schools are safe:
If schools have implemented safety procedures then this should reduce the transmission - however in that, the numbers of pupils should be reduced to allow for safe passage with the corridors. However, the main issue with teens (and I am generalising) is that they will forget to give each other space and unintentionally spread the virus. I think that they should remain closed until the next term in Feb, to at least allow for a lot of people to be given a vaccination. I know some will disagree saying this in affecting the mental health and well being of students, but surely that argument is across the board with everyone in a similar boat, with us all having our own individual battles? I have been working to get a brand new office facility Covid Secure but can guarantee that people will become blarsy and forget about social distancing in stair wells, and the one way system in the office, restricted number on the kitchen areas. They will forget to wipe down their equipment - Im not being negative, but everyone will think it won't happen to me but it is just human nature. (apologies for being negative). There will be some though that will be extra careful, or just not return until sitaution has changed as the company has been working from home quite successfully.

I currently have a cousin with the new strain of virus in hospital, and know of two people who have passed away (one of whom definitely did not have covid) but with the other, it is highly likely that this was the illness that took her life. Her daughter. son-in-law and their 3 kids all have the virus so depending on how quickly they were diagnosed they may have visited and unknowingly passed it on The other person that passed was a mentor to me.

Re the Care Home deaths - sadly, with staff coming and going, unless staff and residents are given the jab then the possibility of the virus spreading again is quite scary. The heating systems are usually on full blast with windows rarely opened to freshen the buildings. In the homes I worked at, the company employed many staff who were not English, and used to warmer climates.

    Stay safe everyone

They are doing that outside school by meeting up with friends in parks and elsewhere. At least at school they can be monitored. This is going to be a hard one for the government... another damned if you do. The ones calling for schools to be closed will be the ones first to moan when other things like child health goes to pot. A tough one.

Kind of inevitable though when your strategy is to do nothing for as long as possible until you’re forced into the only remaining option.

You can always enlighten us with the answers mr hindsight?
Funny I have just listened to someone saying that virtually all of Europe has fared the same in this compared to other parts of the World.
In Germany on Thursday/Friday were (1000 and 1200 deaths) death toll 34k and rising, yet not long ago posters on here were telling us how good the Germans were compared to our 2222 government? They have fallen silent on that one?
I have been saying all along that things are changing daily and we have to adapt. It's not about doing nothing it's about trying to do it right otherwise you get the army of moaners flooding social media.

It would be impressive if their death toll was falling.

You can waffle as much as you want as part of an ever-dwindling number of diehard Tories refusing to admit the obvious.

So tell us what we should do then instead of moaning at every opportunity.
Come on tell us all how we move forward?

Not really my ****ing job is it. It was blatantly obvious for weeks we needed a tougher lockdown than we had and didn’t learn any of the understandable mistakes first time round.

Given the complete paucity of remaining options, they’ve got to lock down properly and pray they haven’t completely lost the trust of the population. Maybe learn from the countries already vaccinating huge relative numbers as there’s clearly something going wrong we don’t know about yet either with the capacity for production of the vials or distribution of the vaccine(s). Definitely don’t open most of the ****ing schools tomorrow just as the post-Xmas increases are kicking in and then two weeks from now wonder why the hospitalisation rate is rocketing further.

How about you admit some of the utter abject failures of your Party and the billions they’ve wasted to deliver us amongst the worst results in the world.

Yeah, but you are always one of the first to moan at every opportunity? Fortuneatly there are many people who know that is whole Covid thing is a challenge and rather complain they get on with things.

As I said before Watford, rather than spend all your time on social media moaning about it, run for parliament. Show the UK your amazing insight. Show us at the way Watford. Remember what you said on the other thread regarding the 'B' word? How it's going to ruining the your age groups lives and you will be paying for it? (Although I will need to explain that one to you on the other thread). Get out there and change things... Run as a Limp Dim in Bracknell and save us all.
