I don’t think any of them are the same risk actually Supermarket workers have had Perspex screens fitted, drivers don’t work much with other people, NHS etc finally have PPE. All along teachers have been getting told Covid doesn’t spread amongst kids, they don’t need PPE and they don’t need any particular safety measures That doesn’t seem right to me, and the stats don’t agree either. They spend all day with up to 30 other households. Strikes me as riskier than a lot of the jobs you listed actually. Teachers would probably be ok with teaching key workers kids to avoid the situation you describe (in fact most of them will carry on teaching anyway) because they could at least minimise infection chances with less kids I see MPs aren’t able to start work again...because of the infection risk
I too support the union's but I also take a dim view of disruption and inconvenience at this moment in time....It's not the Government who will suffer it's the parents, some of whom are single and trying to work for a living. If that 'luxury' of sending your kids to school so you can work to feed them is taken away then the union's will be responsible for people losing their jobs and abject poverty too???
The government say they consult headteachers. What they actually mean is they consult the heads of multi academy chains that are likely also party donors and haven’t been anywhere near a classroom for 20-30 years if at all.
You know far far more than me on this.... how will PPE help? A mask stops you spreading it not contracting it..... so are they asking for kids to wear masks???
Just asked daughter Some teachers wear masks while teaching some don’t, personal choice it seems. If I thought it was such a big risk I would kit myself out. They wear masks while walking about as do the kids. Crazy eh Just get on and do the job ffs
I’ve no idea what they’re asking tbh But if I was a teacher I’d want kids to wear masks And if I had my kids in school I’d want kids to wear masks too
Kids only wear masks in corridors of secondary schools when potentially mixing with/passing by other bubbles. No masks in primary.
