I don’t know how they keep getting called forwards if you score 2 or 3 goals a season you are not really a forward I don’t believe ours are even footballers and surely it’s not true Graeme is on £6,000+ a week.
As poor as it was today, we were playing as a team with no training since before Christmas. And we were against a team who haven’t missed a training session and have not suffered any cancellations due to the virus. On the back of a win midweek as well. That, in itself, makes it a difficult task. Johnson has had 1 game with a week of training and won it massively. The rest of his games have been with big changes and massive disruption. That’s tough for any manager to deal with. I’m going to put my tin hat on and say it’s a decent point all things considered.
Keith Curle outlined before kick off that he had little intention of trying to play football against us knowing full well that they would lose. He declared that they would use all tactics available to compete and that's what they did, time wasting, fouling etc backed up by a weak referee and it was never going to be pretty. Considering how little football we've played and those trying to recover from this awful illness, however slightly symptoms might have been, I wasn't expecting anything else today, but hoped that we could nick a goal and the three points. We didn't, so we move on to the next game.
'good point'?... i like to think so, lots of disruption, LJ hardly had a full week yet to work with the team and still has no idea of some returning from injury and still not quite up to speed. the 'rustiness' and lack of match practice showed across the pitch and while i don't think we performed good enough for the win they certainly did not so will take the draw and move forward, LJ has time with the lads now with the next game off so hopefully we will see an almost different team next week, fingers crossed that teams do not now start using covid isolation as an excuse to miss a couple of games to get players back from injury etc otherwise the backlog could see the season ended.
played a team diving at any chance they got and that ref was shocking Wyke is a marked man and i have never known a player like him to be hated by refs as much.
I've just watched LJ's post match interview.....is it just me, or does this guy give you the feeling he will sort this mess out? I am very confident in him, he talks sense and with honesty. I think we are good hands with him....lets hope so anyway
As a person I don't like him one bit ... ... then again I don't like Klopp, Guardiola or Mourinho who don't do so bad. I agree with you mate, he seems determined, totally unlike the man he replaced.
I’ve said it a few times on here. We need someone to change the mentality of the players into ones that actually believe they will win when they play for us. I want teams to be scared of playing us. The last manager who did that was Peter Reid.
No need to shout mate The same as anyone else, I judge people from the information I have, however much that is, and the things I notice about people. As with us all we have an instinct for the kind of people we could get on with, first impressions are usually quite accurate. I wouldn't want to spend any time with Klopp but I'd love him as a manager. As Harry Hill says, "You can tell a lot about someone ... ... by how they are."
He is a decent manager and plays to his strengths, absolutely the right thing to do, he is refreshingly honest too, that might be a handicap in todays game, but I like him a lot. I would have been happier today if either Neil or Curry could have made it to the bench, not that they are better than the tried and tested but both add a touch of the unexpected to the mix, I was hoping to see something different today but it was very much in the Parky tradition. I do hope this is due to circumstances and not an indication that LJ is bottling it.
Must admit I didn’t like LJ’s ‘Northampton is a difficult place to play’ comment yesterday. Many teams have thrashed them there this season. Was a bit of a Parkinson comment. It’s only one comment and maybe it was more the affects of covid and playing there he might have referred to but he’s been positive since starting and dropping in a comment like that was surprising. Maybe it’s just me but I preferred Roy Keane’s ‘Sunderland should be coming to places like this and steamrollering teams’.
Thought he was **** yesterday. At start of 2nd half I counted about 4 misplaced passes from him. Also thought he chickened out of a diving header opportunity header header which he may have scored from. Mind Illl admit o being prejudiced against him. He also has a tendency to pick up needless bookings Rant Over!
I was disappointed with his passing yesterday as I'd just started to warm to him. It's a difficult time to judge people but I think he has more to offer than Power or Dobson. I still think we're lacking a good captain and was hoping he could be one ... ... wrong.
He comes across as a bit David Brent to me but he also seems fairly determined and I ge the feeling he wont panic into doing something stupid. Like attempting to sign someone like Grigg
I really like him, but he was very poor yesterday. I thought the chance where he didn't go for the diving header was harsh though - in the replay you can see the defender has his arms stretched out to block Scowen from getting to the ball.
Thats fair comment mate. I just dont think he knows where the back of the net is. Hes had a few goalscoring opportunities in previous matches which he's failed to capitalise on and can be petulant at times. I admit Im a bit biased against him though. Its all about opinions which I respect
Great post smug - as you say it's not about liking the person (up to now I do btw) just about believing in him. And, for the record, I can't stand the three mentioned either!
