Exactly how many days have you spent in Italy to be such a connaisseur of local political trends ?

What a farce the school situation is!
One of my brothers has told me they are due to open on monday with over 1700 pupils. This mass testing programme that Williamson is ever so confident about best get a move on! His school has 3 tests available as it stands. No logistics in place to test the school, no personnel in place, no plan or suggested plan. He reckons it would take 3 days to mass test his school!

Williamson is totally out of his depth, like most in the government.
Unfortunately, the worst era of politicians has coincided with a global pandemic.
It's going to be a long haul yet.

He really is mate. Surely there is someone within the party more capable. 2 days to set this up and it's the bloody weekend! Imagine if they announce a full closure at such short notice for parents. Chaos.

Capability has never been the most important factor for allocating these goons.

Its a complete farce. Nothing seems to ever get learned during this. Schools are a breeding ground for even just the sniffles, nevermind a highly infectious disease. Sending children to school in classes of 30 plus is not too different to attending an illegal party of 30 plus.

The same way I know that Italy has the biggest covid death toll in Europe... It's called reading. Maybe you should try it and know what goes on there. :emoticon-0148-yes:

They probably only need to see a year of buccaneering Britannia ruling the waves to make this confirmation bias a reality.

Apparently you have to live in a country to know what's going on?
<doh> And there was me thinking the new year might bring some new ideas?

I was under the impression that kids, especially younger kids, aren't thought to be particularly infectious.
    Not sure if that's changed.

That's the impression that we were all given. My 2 nieces primary school which had to close fully a week and a half early may argue differently.

Just spoken to my brother earlier on the phone. Asked if they were all set for the mass testing on monday. They have not heard a single thing regarding it, apart from the statement by Williamson. His school as it stands, opens on Monday with no plan of action apart from what was in place before. Quite unbelievable really.

Just to add, they will be ready if all 1700 children and teachers can share the 3 tests they have in the staff room!

Dr Mary Bousted, told BBC Breakfast: ‘We know that pupils now can transmit the virus through their homes, through to their families and into the community, they’re the most effective transmitter of the virus.

‘You combine that with the new variant being up to 70% more infective than the previous Covid virus which was very infective, then it’s clear we have to do something to break the chain of rising levels of infection in our community.’

Depends on your readings. I work most of the time in Italy and can guarantee that the Italexit support in in the single digits. Probably more coverage on Daily Express than all of the local media. Anyway time will tell if Brexit is a wise choice or a panacea for covering up other objectives.

eer I am not comparing. I used that as a basic answer.
I only read today how poor the south of Italy is. I also listened to someone who knows a lot more about the economics of that country than us and he said they would probably be the first country to leave the Euro (if they do). You don't need to live in a country to know what is going on?
