Of all the likely villains' in the PL OGS seems the least likely Dyche? Pep? Jose? Atkinson? he's not even close
Look at the stats for other PL teams over the years it happens. It' sno good looking at one team over two seasons and drawing stats conclusions from it. Come on RDBD where are you?
It literally doesn't happen. Man Utd broke the record last season with 14. Nobody has ever got that many.
At the risk of repeating myself, there are factors in the way Utd play - especially at home - which increase the probality of penalties being awarded Just like the way some teams play will result in more headed goals, set piece goals, goals on the break etc. Utd tend to have a lot of possession at home, but struggle to break down teams who get players behind the ball in and around the penalty area. Where Liverpool and City open team up with quick, sharp passes, Utd tend to be slower and less precise in the build up, but the players involved in the box such as Fernandes, Martial and Rashford are quick-footed. So they are often receiving the ball in tight areas, looking to work an opening for a shot or a pass, but the play is disjointed. Defenders have more chance to get in blocks and tackles and there are more 50/50 balls. When there is more contact in the box, there is more like likelihood of fouls being committed - handballs, mistimed tackles etc. Especially when quick forwards are up against big, slow defenders. With every incident being subject VAR - and a lower threshold these days for what constitutes a foul or a handball, then more penalties are inevitable. It's a perfect storm. Utd had 19 attempts on goal last night, 9 on target - yet how many were clear opportunities? Most would fall into the category I've described - half chances after a stuttering build up. Yes, some penalty decisions are more subjective than others, but there's no evidence of bias. And there was no doubt about the one last night. Leicester have had a lot of penalties this season in the PL too. And what do you know, Spurs have just scored one!
Is this in all competitions? In the PL this season, penalty awards across the board are up around 40%. Leicester have 10, Utd have 6.
Steven Gerrard's Rangers™ beat Celtic 1-0 to go 19 points clear at the top of the SPL. 3 games in hand for the soon-to-be-sacked Neil Lennon, but that's already a massive gap. 10 in a row looks unlikely.
A lot of that is due to the aggro of creating what is known as the 'data cleaning' + "ETL" pipelines (the most tedious and human time-consuming part of it) . My clients could justify paying somewhat less for the real analytics if their other personnel did the above rather than me.
Will it please you to know that I am quite well known among my colleagues for often not getting "top dollar" for the work I do for my clients ... ??
It comes down to benefit of doubt, some clubs get it far more often than others, that is the problem.
And hands (as my old man used to say) that have never seen a hard day's work !!! The 700/day FYI was one of the (few) "top dollar" gigs.
The problem is not the lack of demand, but the surplus of supply (especially on Internet forums like Twatter) .
