Exactly Smug, these figures should be viewed as an indication of the serious situation that we are in and a yardstick of how effective the controls and restrictions are (or not).
Special Needs Schools are all open, regardless of where they are located. It's pretty difficult and I feel very sorry for the staff who are working in them right now.
Who's to say the death rates don't go up slightly when the NHS don't have adequate staff to go on Covid wards ... ... there are infinite variants that, sadly, don't really mean that much in the grand scheme of things.
I feel sorry for all teachers and school staff especially as they have now been told they will be assisting mass testing in schools.
I said to my missus, with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek of course, that with the exception of New Zealand and Australia, the countries that have handled covid best are those with a poor record on human rights. There's nowt like a three foot baton, a water canon and a bit of tear gas for keeping people at home
I was right what I said. It wasn't insane. I noticed Smug posted that David Icke poster to you. Not meant as insult, no siree, Smug wouldn't dream of getting personal and being a hypocrite.
It was a bit of fun, which Rooch seemed to appreciate, you need to lighten up a little. There was a valid point to the post which you've obviously missed.
Yep the number of deaths, irrespective of how exactly measured is way above the average... the vaccine has to be rolled out ASAP
People wanting to start arguments about figures is just arguing for the sake of it as none us know the reality, it's too complicated to measure perfectly. If it's 30,000 dead or 60,000 dead it's still a crisis. If the rates are going up it's worrying ... ... coming down and it's encouraging. Simple as that.
I didn’t know who the f ucker was anyway but you know the old saying it takes one to know one No problem mate
While some can't wait to have a dig at the government, this is why the current problem is as bad as it is . . . . ****ing idiots who couldn't give a toss about innocent people dying because of them: Police had to break up parties across England as revellers ignored warnings to ring in the new year with members of their own household only. Several forces issued the maximum £10,000 fine to organisers as they battled to get people to stick to the rules. New restrictions which came into effect at midnight on December 31st meant that a total of 44 million people – 78% of the population of England – saw in 2021 under the toughest Tier 4 measures. The Metropolitan Police (MPS) said that officers had broken up a music event in east London's Royal Docks and issued the host with the top penalty. A number of house parties were also dispersed across the east of the capital. MPS Barking and Dagenham tweeted just before 2am: "Officers have been attending a number of reported breaches with house parties. Several Fines have been issued at various parties across the East Area tonight for Covid Breaches." In Essex, officers dished out more than £18,000 in fines to organisers of unlicensed music events, reporting that hundreds of people had turned up in breach of lockdown rules. Assistant Chief Constable Andy Prophet thanked all of those who had stayed at home on what is traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year. please log in to view this image He added: "Unfortunately, there were others who decided to blatantly flout the coronavirus rules and regulations, and, ultimately, they decided that partying was more important than protecting other people and saving lives. "We've seized their equipment, arrested five people, and issued a large number of fines to those who think that this behaviour is acceptable." Sussex Police issued 12 fines in Brighton for breach of lockdown rules, and by 11pm had made 13 arrests across the west of the county for a number of offences including affray. "Our officers will shut breaches down and take enforcement action where necessary," the force tweeted. Detective Chief Constable Terry Woods, of Lancashire Constabulary, said that officers had dealt with "a steady stream of incidents" including shutting down a house party in Hyndburn. He tweeted: "Some shockers tonight e.g. Hyndburn rural property with about 80 young people there @LancsPolice stopped it & organiser reported for £10k fine." At around 2.30am, he posted: "Demand now increasing – themes assaults, house party fights, sadly domestic abuse & people reaching crisis. "I spent the stroke of midnight on foot with cops searching for a high risk missing person. Just resuming from helping with the arrest of a violent drink driver – welcome to 2021!!" West Midlands Police were also battling lockdown fatigue as 2020 drew to a close. Chief Constable Dave Thompson posted: "Very grateful for time with @OSU_WMP. "I am afraid that there have been some shocking Covid breaches with very large house parties, which were well dealt with by the team. Always a pleasure to spend time with such professional officers." Merseyside Police got ahead of the game by putting a dispersal zone on the Pier Head and other parts of Liverpool city centre between 7.30pm on New Year's Eve and midday on January 1st. The order came just hours after a post was circulated on social media encouraging people to meet near the Liver Building for a party with the words "F*** Tier 3", the Liverpool Echo reported. Chief Inspector Peter Clark said: "Previous gatherings in Liverpool this year have involved several hundred people showing a lack of social distancing and led to disorder earlier this year at the Pier Head" He added: "The overwhelming majority of people in Merseyside have made huge sacrifices throughout this pandemic to keep those most vulnerable safe and to protect the NHS and other emergency services." Other forces got off more lightly, with Wiltshire Police reporting "a quiet and peaceful New Year" – issuing around 20 formal warnings for house parties to disperse. Irresponsible arseholes who don't care about us No wonder hospitals are under increasing pressure when idiots like these deliberately exacerbate the problem
Excuses, excuses... The new variant of Covid-19 is "hugely" more transmissible than the virus's previous version, a study has found. It concludes that the new variant increases the Reproduction or R number by between 0.4 and 0.7. The UK's latest R number has been estimated at between 1.1 and 1.3. It needs to be below 1.0 for the number of cases to start falling. Prof Axel Gandy of London's Imperial College said that the differences between the viruses types was "quite extreme". "There is a huge difference in how easily the variant virus spreads," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme. The Imperial College study suggests that transmission of the new variant tripled during England's November lockdown while the previous version was reduced by a third. Cases of Covid-19 have begun to increase rapidly during the second spike, and the number of cases recorded in a single day reached a new high on Thursday. No longer a rumour apparently. Another u-turn. It now gives those schools Saturday and Sunday to prepare for Monday. This includes identifying all the 'vulnerable' children, those children whose parents are key workers, contact them, produce registers, arrange remote learning etc... It's at least 30 hours work, but that's OK, because teachers are all lazy and should be working over the weekend to make up for their **** attitudes and work ethic (That last bit is according to the likes of the Daily Mail reader).
