I live in cott mate. well near castle hill anyway, but it makes me laugh how some on Endyke Lane (note the 'y' instead of an 'i') talk about walking into 'the village', when it is is easier fro them to walk in to Orchard Park shops. Endyke snobs I think as opposed to Endike realists!!!
Hope you get sorted. Cannot get a Xmas din over here. All the frogs eat on Xmas eve and the following day is a washout. Last year we bought a weird turkey steak thing wrapped in god knows what that you put in the oven. We chopped it up and couldn't get any decent stuff off it, and chucked it in the bin. Stayed at Home Farm (near Humber Bridge roundabout) before coming back here for Xmas. God it was cold and a frozen up car park to boot. Their Xmas menu looked ok. Won't stay there again though as my lads iPhone got knicked from the room. 8000 songs and stuff on it. Merry Xmas!!
No he wasn't. We set off for the Portsmouth ferry and after an hour he realised he had left it on the couch in our room. We rang straight away and the Manager sent someone to look. Came back and said it wasn't there! We know it was so who-ever got in the room 1st had kept it; never got to their lost-property. We had lots of emails and stuff with them but they never got anyone to own up to it, and stopped replying. May go back next month to sort em. So guess what his xmas present from me was? Only good thing is I didn't have to listen to trance music for 650kms.
Not necessarily for Xmas dinner (but you could try) we went to the Italian in Brough a couple of weeks ago. For the life of me I can't remember the name, but its next door to the chippy near Jacksons (old habits die hard). That was alright, decent grub, big helpings, reasonable price and good service.
The Railway in Cottingham has closed down as someone said and Blue Bell was £85.00 per person last year for Xmas dinner. Fair Maid is average so why not try Skidby Mill. It might be a few quid though. West Bulls is Shellsuit central so give it a miss. Failing that try Christoffs in Cott.
Tesco's development? Is that going where the Safeways used to be just down from the Green? And when I say Safeways I think it became Morrisons after the takeover, it definitely stayed as a supermarket though because between 4 and 5 on a Sunday Jacksons used to be ridiculously busy with people missing the supermarket after closing.
nope on the land besides the station where boards is now it ll be massive. plans on show in methodist hall next week i think it will kill cott. not that it isnt dead now of course
I went round Cott couple of Saturdays ago with the Mrs, it was terrible. Cross keys had a few in early on, had tour round it was dead. Went back in Keys afterwards, they had a band on and there were 10 people in tops.
Does seem to be overkill. So they're going to have Somerfield and Tesco in Cott, plus your Sainsburys Local/Farmfoods etc type places, Waitrose a short drive away in Willerby, and another big Tesco just the other side of Orchard Park.
Lived in Cott as a teenager and went to CBS and Harland Way. Used King Billy most times and at Xmas; used to be great then. A long time ago though !!
Pubs closing!! There should be a law against it....I blame Tesco's, Asda etc and all the little corner shops selling booze to underage scrouts....Gawd help us...
A friend just got taken to The Star at Sancton. She's a Cordon Bleu chef, herself, and said the food was brilliant. (Thinking of who treated her - it probably won't be cheap, however!)
West bulls is the worst place ive been for pub grub in the last 10 years , i certainly wouldnt recommend that place if its busy , as its badly organised and poorly planned during peak times. West Bulls is also the place where ive tried the worst ever yorkshire puds' - i wouldnt eat there again for free - and ive turned down their complimentary meals ! I recommend the Toby carvery just off the roundabout on Beverley rd (outside Willerby) has never disappointed - not been for an xmas dinner , but we have been in for new years day events and quite a few random sundays /evenings. Its the same concept as west bulls , but far cleaner , tastier and far far less little 'uns tearing around the place leaving gravy stains everywhere !!!
I'm not far from there and I go all the time, it's good, but it's a long way from a Toby Carvery. Christmas dinner is £80 a head and with drinks on top, you'll be lucky to get any change out of £1,500.00 for amount of people he's taking.
