I usually agree with you but the reality is, performances have been turgid since the end of our Carabao cup run in early 2018. The product on offer has been poor for over 2 years and made worse IMHO by LJ and now Holden spouting nonsense in post match interviews. I have already admitted that my long day to home matches has been pretty much for the social aspect alone, I have not missed a match home or away by one medium or another for 4 years and the last 2 years have been painful, it took an off the cuff comment by Gary Rowett to underline where much of our problems lie, I suspect this has been an open secret for all of those 4 years amongst championship managers. ODowda gets in one great cross for Martin against Wycombe and suddenly he is the player that we have been lacking, Diedhiou comes off the bench twice and scores and suddenly he's going to be a prolific scorer, i'm sorry what we need is consistency and not the odd flash in the pan that we get. I like many hoped that Williams and a confident Walsh might give us the steel, drive and creativity in midfield and sadly we have seen neither, that might not have so much of a problem had we been kept informed from the outset, instead only after mounting pressure for Holden to come clean did Macgregor managed to pull enough teeth to get at best a non committal response. To this day I am still unsure of their actual injuries other than Walsh maybe has a thigh injury. Williams has summarised once this season for a game on Robins TV (his only public appearance) and Walsh just has not been seen. It's just not good enough, the info from the club is appalling.
I forgot one positive from last night, Luton and City players in a show of unity intermingled in the centre circle arms around each other and there was no knee taking, only pee taking by several City players once the game started.
I remember when the other Johnson was ousted out of the club and what happened.....lets hope history isn't repeating itself..
That was my concern exactly - although some would undoubtedly find some way to blame Lee for our demise, a whole season later, despite him having left the club in a reasonable position. The sacking of LJ - whilst IMHO justified (he HAD lost his way), was so badly handled it's bordering on farcical - it was as if SL had woken up that same morning and decided he would sack him - no preparation, no candidates lined up - embarrassing.
You sound surprised !? Under Lansdowns stewardship, the club have, at times, been a total embarrassment in the way the media have been handled, and appointments and dismissals made. And unfortunately it reflects badly on the club as a whole. He talks like you would expect a billionaire businessman to, but often behaves like a rank amateur.
Personally I would have kept LJ, until such time we were lining up a top class manager with only Premiership as progress in mind.....it's seems to me, we showed panic when there wasn't any and made way for the usual option....................as said history showing signs of repeating itself!!
Yep and he would not have wanted the whole truth to be exposed, mutual consent was his escape route from that.
if that were true, may never have worked in football again. SL played it absolutely spot on in the same way that he did with Cotterill, because that is another that could have been messy, I suspect the experience with these 2 is the reason why Ashton wields so much power.
How about dear old Uncle Pete Johnson as our next manager?, after all he gave us the superstar that was Peter Styvar, a full back converted into a striker who was worse than Bas Savage.
Not sure why so many on here enjoy knocking the Johnsons....both gave us our best seasons in the Championship in 40 years.....Quite sad really
Really Onefor? You still don't know? It's because Johnson senior used to play Johnson junior in his side. That's all its ever been about.
Didnt knock GJ you posted something like it was gospel and it wasnt. GJ achieved things at City but had to go because of his behaviour and mutual consent was Steve L's way of supporting his man instead of binning him in public and damaging his prospects of managing elsewhere in future. Sketch doing tye rounds was was they thought he was a forward after Pete watched him playing up front and scoring but he was a full back. Peter Styvar quickly looked like twenty Peter Stuyvesant!!!
We are and have been so much better without them .............. Nepotism v The best seasons in the Championship in 40 years.. And you say I'm daft!!
One of my mates had a building company. He had the absolute front to add ‘& son’ to the name of it. Blatant nepotism. Nigel Clough and Darren Ferguson should both be banned from football too.
