Boro fans seem upset that he’s even considering not signing for longer than the 2 months that they were willing to give him. Loyalty works both ways. If he hadn’t scored those goals they’d likely be making him unemployed right about now. If they wanted him for the season they should have offered him the season, not a trial. Of course everyone can understand WHY they only offered him 2 months originally, but it was a gamble on both sides and the ball is in his court now.
Always knew he was good enough. My dad and I always said he’d easily make it if he stays injury free. The people around us in the ground hated him. A lot of our fans seemed to. I’m delighted for him. Absolutely over the moon. Just wish we’d been able to keep him at SAFC. Imagine his pace in this league!
I know at times football is all about opinions and they can differ a lot. The criticism levelled at Watmore, true in a way, dog chasing a balloon, poor crossing etc all seemed to ignore the fact the lad had talent, all he needed was a full season of playing and he would improve. Sterling at first was the same look at him now! I heard similar comments about Hume... he was young when he came into the team and had some growing and muscle to put on. He has talent and is probably the best player on the pitch for most games. But some fans just will not warm to him... they have made up their mind.
He's always been a decent enough player, nowhere near as bad as some folk made out. He just had a really unlucky time with us injury wise so can see why we either wouldn't or couldn't afford to take another chance with him. Even Boro only offered a three month deal but he's taken the opportunity well. Be interesting to see where he goes in Jan.
I was always worried for him playing in L1, he is better off and more at home at a higher level, and that will be in the Premiership if he keeps going, the young man is a class act as we all know. Some cant see it but most can.
6 goals in 21 games, not bad at all at that level. No idea what else he's been doing with assists or assists of assists but in terms of goals that's a good start.
According to transfermarkt he's played 1,271 minutes, so nowhere near playing the full 90 in his 23 appearances. Works out at just over 14 full games so 7 goals and 1 assist is a canny return.
