Very much a case of Tony not getting the transfer funds next month that he'd been promised. Words were had between him and the owner, which the owner didn't take too kindly to.

It's been a minute since Diego Costa was great, and he's as temperamental as they come*. Since returning to Atletico, he has averaged a goal every 325 minutes over four seasons in the league/Europe, which is a hair better than Shane Long's scoring record with Saints (1 in 359).

*He has 21 yellow cards since leaving Chelsea (and 2 reds). He has scored 15 goals. That's my new favourite stat.

Poch working again then. He ought to win a trophy or two at PSG so that criticism of him will be gone .

Son would be a nice start - he's key to Spuds being as good as they are

New Paris St-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with two of his former Tottenham players - England midfielder Dele Alli, 24, and Inter Milan's Denmark playmaker Christian Eriksen, 28. (AS)

Absolutely. It was always the most spectacularly stupid criticism as well.

I do not avidly follow French football but PSG are a bit of a plastic football club having only come into existence in the early 1970s. . I believe that the owners were also responsible for coverage of football in France so there was a bit of a conflict of interest there.

On the subject of football coverage, I was surprised at how much attention Football Focus gave to the women's game yesterday. Whilst I applaud this to some degree, the women's game seem increasingly to get more coverage than clubs in the lower leagues. Most of what happened in women's football in 2020 generally passed me by and I cannot see it having the same amount of following nationally as clubs in the Championship downwards. Across a normal pre-Covid weekend, attendance and support of non-league teams much be higher too yet these clubs only get any coverage during the early FA Cup rounds. I appreciate FF is something of a magazine programme yet it would be more interesting to see it have a wider remit.

I think Ian, the coverage of women's football is designed to increase interest until it is on an equal footing to the men's game. It might seem disproportionate now, but won't be as the women's game grows.

I think that you are 100% correct with this statement. At this point in time, I feel that it does not merit this degree of media attention. Without doubt, the women's game has improved tremendously and I think that some of the arguments presented against this side of the sport being serious can tend to verge on the ridiculous. However, in 2021 it strikes me that the women's game does not attract the level of support afforded even to the lower tiers of the men's game and this probably applies to female supporters as well. I agree that the women's game will eventually get there although I feel that situation is still a very long way off. The old chestnut still remains as to what level the women's game is in comparison with the more established men's game - not from the physical perspective but from quality of football, levels of fitness, quality of coaching and individual technique. My guess would be that this is probably Conference level at best although I bow to other's greater knowledge.

If I wanted to be contrarian, I would say that the biggest achievement of woman in English football at this point in time still remains associated with spectator attendance and the absence of the yob / hooligan culture which ruined the sport in the 70s and 80s. Without doubt, the presence of women in greater numbers at football matches has eradicated this problem which was allowed to manifest itself too long. Going to football now is a much different experience than when I first went to The Dell in the mid 70s. I would still argue that in a straw poll of female football supporters, interest in the men's game will dominate.
