The last league game of 2020. I'm not expecting anything from this one to be honest..

Me neither , would love to be proved wrong , it really does feel like we’re down to the bare bones at present, the sooner we get some of the players back the better.

I'm sat here feeling pretty anonymous, would love to see a quality win but happy with a point, what ambition.

1st 45 minutes, nothing we didn’t already know.
Rowe is no longer up to this level of football, Massengo offers us absolutely nothing, he has been shocking, I hope this doesn’t offend Mr Holden but yet again we being outplayed and outmuscled by a physical team, especially in midfield.
Our passing in the main is poor especially Nagy and Bakinson, our build up is slow and predictable.
I cannot fault Wells for effort today but his touch is awful.
Now for Semenyo he has been another having a shocker has hardly beaten anybody all night and yet again got into a good position but too wide in the area and chose the option of shooting when he had Martin and Wells both free, 100% the wrong option.
One good move where Martin hit the bar with a header, but little else of quality.
Luton are well worth their lead and look the team most likely to score again.
Not for the first time very disappointing.

FFS get Bakinson off, he is going to lose us this game single handed.

68 minutes Bakinson gives the ball away in around the box for the umpteenth time and it's 2-1.

Lets be totally honest, we got away with it against Wycombe who were the better side, tonight we didn't, we created nothing in the 2nd half, 1 shot on target the whole game and that was like a pass back.

Kalas and Vyner did little wrong. Our passing was shocking all night Bakinson by far the worst offender to casual by half and it was no surprise when another of his stray passes led to their winner.

Wells was poor all night his first touch was shocking, he also showed an arrogance when substituted he took an age to come with only several minutes left to play, I have to say he doesn't look happy to me. Semenyo was wasteful yet again.

The Rowett prophecy came to pass yet again, we were out muscled by yet another physical team, our midfield shockingly unfit for purpose.

Rowe has to be replaced as well he is a liability.

Credit where is due, we are superb at getting in around the opponents box and running out of attacking ideas but great at getting it safely back to our keeper time after time, from good attacking positions.

Brentford and Norwich to come, doesn't look encouraging, I hope Holden doesn't try to butter this performance up, it was poor again.

How much longer does SL give DH with the January transfer imminent? Even the wins in the Kats month have been awful performances.

No wum mate, LJ had loads of chances with worse performances, 6 or 7 losses on the trot, than DH hsa had but he had better watch his step, he is in the danger zone.

DH said we were the better team all night and I want some of that stuff. One solitary shot on goal does not a better team make and it seems to me that we've had rather a lot of those kind of matches and if we keep up the good work then downward must be our direction.

We did that time and again under LJ. We haven’t moved on.
I’m cutting DH slack - our injury situation is terrible, but so far all I can see by way of an ‘improvement’ are the post match press conferences - and they seem to be losing their sparkle.

He is talking out of his arse, we got lucky against Wycombe and we were 2nd best for most of this match.

If he truly believes we were the better team, we need to sack him now because his standards must be incredibly low.

Improvements were promised under a new coach......I'm afraid I don't see it....excuses were frowned upon in the past by the then critics and so they should be now.
Any sparkle that was there has truly fizzled out. Bakinson to me looks clumsy and nervous, Semenyo often looks the part but a long way from how the finished article should look. Martin & Wells need an abundance of chances, which they're not getting. We do lack quality that is for sure.

Based on the clearly obvious I wonder what those in charge can come up with in the transfer window and whether any thought has been given to major improvement. The talk about strengthening our midfield has gone on for years and from recent performances it doesn't look like we are any closer to filling that vital role in the squad and until we do we will continue to spin our wheels. When will the time come when most of our issues have been overcome and we start to see a team that finally knows how to play together and want to perform for each other as well as us? I'm still waiting Steve - so how about it next month?:emoticon-0128-hi:

LJ may have had the record run of losses, but the football being played in that run is way better than what is being served up now. On that run we were unlucky to lose a few games; whereas, now we are lucky to win them.
We have not progressed at all under DH, and I don’t sea that it will, we can cite the injuries, but only Weimann and Pato could be considered 1st team regulars.

This is just part of the article in todays Post, the full is at the bottom with the link, the stats maks interesting reading

Bristol City verdict: Robins end year with another defeat and poor form - roll on 2021

Our City writer's considered view after a sixth loss in nine games.

    City's 2020 in stats:
First half: 21 games: 7 wins, four draws, 10 defeats = 25 points

Second half: 22 games: 10 wins, three draws, nine defeats = 33 points

So 58 points from 43 games. It's lower-mid-table stuff (resulting in 62 points for 46 games, at 1.35 points per game) and while not great it is a long way short of the top six but comfortably mid-table. Much room for improvement but possessing plenty to be optimistic about.

Most goals: Nahki Wells and Jamie Paterson: 10.

    Same old, same old
City finish the year with two points fewer than they had at this stage last year. (But three up on the year before when they finished in eighth place.)

Yes, it's a similar pattern: the team starts well but then results drop off at this time of the year. Likely it's to do with injuries and strength in depth. A year ago we were eager to see a striker come in, but injuries to Adam Nagy, Nathan Baker and Benik Afobe were high on the agenda too.

The Robins won't spend their way forward so we must wait and see the younger talents develop. To be sold? Possibly but the squad improved year on year as has happened. Stick with it and there may eventually be success. And financial fair-play restricts any other approach anyhow.

    A predictable result and performance.
With games against in form Brentford, Norwich, Derby, Huddersfield plus the away day specialists Preston to come to Bristol, we could easily be in the bottom 6 by the end of January.
The other results from last night were predictably unpredictable, and maybe that's our best chances of staying out of a relegation scrap.
