When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

That is a disgrace and I am sure it will be looked at, and the detention issue will be resolved, at least I hope so, for all our sakes.

Lifelong female Sunderland supporter of 57 years. Also a long term Labour supporter until T Blair lied about Iraq. Am now not a supporter of any specific party, although I do not think Labour have any leader worthy of my vote for many years. We are all entitled to our own opinions, but should not let our opinions cloud the fact that ALL parties are capable of lying. I do confess however to voting for brexit, which I realise is also unpopular on here.

    The Guildford Four..

As it happened I was doing an audit in Guildford.. and had a pie /pint at the very pub that was bombed a couple of weeks later.

At the time I would have been very happy if the Guildford 4 were hanged.

It turns out they were innocent.

In principle I do not see what is wrong with hanging, but in practice innocent people could be killed!

I've seen these 'cut&paste' debates and people respond blow by blow with reams of text ...

... but it's blatantly obvious no one ever reads them through or believes the other side.

Thats why I'm not going to participate.

Folk who think Labour will be back in power at the next election are living in a dreamworld IMO.
The are quite simply unelectable, and have been since Gordon Brown, took a huge chunk of all our pensions (in the 90s, if you don’t believe me simply check your pension statements), and even after doing that The Labour Party and it’s members still made him leader after Blair.
Currently they still have not accepted Brexit, and it’s clear they think the public have got it wrong.
Their opposition to the Govt is so weak and negative, I don’t bother listening any more despite being a traditional Labour Supporter.
Did anyone watch Captain Hindsight’s press conference after the Brexit Deal was confirmed? It was an embarrassing response, by a leader of Doom & Gloom merchants.
The shadow chancellor is scary (not only in the looks department), and like her predecessor thinks there’s a bottomless pot of money to throw at any lost cause she can think of.
Finally there is the way that the party still treats the Jewish community. Nothing has changed, and some of the Party’s national executive should be put to trial.
IMO the party is finished, and it won’t be too long before it splinters. My hope is one of the splinters is something that I can support, as I’m sick of spoiling my ballot paper every election.

    Very good post.

As you seem quite reasonable would you mind me an honest question.

I'm only interested in your answer and won't ask any follow up questions, I'm not trying to trip you up.

As a Brexit voter, what were the three most important reasons for you .... thanks.

In light of today's headlines about the crisis in the nhs, wouldn't you think someone from the cabinet would be speaking out today?
