The Romans decided that the Scots were not yet evolved enough to be of any value, so walled them in as a sort of zoo. FACT.

That wasn't the Romans. They had routinely wandered all over scotchland, and with significantly lower numbers made up of people from the south, battered the larger jock gatherings. The Italians simply saw nothing of worth there. They saw similar in Ireland, but as that region was more evolved, they simply plonked a puppet king in place there, and collected their taxes through him.

The later highland clearances by the jock leaders on their own people show that they hadn't evolved much further by then either.

The Romans weren't that interested in us at the far flungs of the civilised world, and they'd changed from building a wider Empire, to trying to write stories of their own individual heroics for political reasons. The first 'invasion' of Southern Britain failed, so they bribed leaders down south by Romanising the children of political leaders so it became fashionable, and the lifestyle was simply integrated into society rather than any real military victory. The Scots had no society worth infiltrating, and it coincided with troubles in Germany that needed their resources.

The Italians saw everything this way as a waste of resources, as in Roman literature, Easterners are stereotypically rich and luxurious, Northerners poor but hardy.

The Romans lost the 9th Legion in Caledonia. That does imply they met serious resistance.

And yet they went to all the trouble of building not one but two walls to keep the uninteresting hordes from coming and giving them a good slap!

Look Nige your country has been raped and pillaged by every cùnt and their granny. Even the might of the Roman empire couldn't handle the Jocks. We are just better fighters than you because yoos are awe pussies!

    Deal with it!

Except they didn't. The jocks were all but wiped out, but that was for the personal aggrandisement of the local Roman leader who wanted to write up his 'heroic' actions. Those in Italy said that there was nothing there worth bothering with, and built the walls so they could have a decent view of what was left of the mutants. Part of the reason was that the Romans were taking a kicking from the Germans, and the local brigantes in Britain were not as keen to pay the levies that made it worth the Romans staying in Britain.

Basically, the southern Brits bailed the jocks out even way back then. Prior to that, the Romans had wandered around Scotchland to their hearts content.
