ANOTHER new [ 2nd ] strain of the virus has just been identified. Have had a quick convo with one of my friends who is a "prof" he said "most viruses mutate regularly" sometinmes it strengthens and sometimes weakens them, that is their ability to transmit / cause more health risk either separately or as a combination of both … takes quite a while to determine the consequences ….
It appears also that the strain affecting us has been found in Denmark in past 24 hours!

They were also saying that new strains can mutate, jump to animals such as Mink, mutate again, and then be passed back to humans.
Despite the vaccine, it could get worse still before it gets better
Also had our rearranged cruise cancelled for the end of March. Have rebooked for May 2022, by which time it will be nearly 4 years since the original booking.
Had our traditional Winter break in Sidmouth cancelled in December too as we were in Tier 3 at the time.

This Christmas is sort of evil incarnate, in the past few weeks have lost a couple of friends, a few more have had to isolate over Christmas, and now one of my longest friendships going back to 1973-4 has emailed me that on Christmas eve he had a letter telling him he had bowel cancer...…. you would have thought they might have sent it after Christmas after all they cant do anything for a few weeks? Probably as bad as when my mother died B.A.N.E.S sent 2 letters 7th and 9th days after, 1 was they were stopping a payment to care home, the other, 2 was to pay £15k owed as the money they paid the care home plus interest was being added on outstanding balance till paid! And we should sell the house asap! didn't sell asap and didn't pay no interest....

A further 30,501 positive tests for coronavirus were reported on Sunday, as hospitals in parts of the UK warn they are at risk of being overwhelmed.
Another 316 people died within 28 days of a positive test, bringing the total to 70,752.
The true numbers are likely to be higher as some parts of the UK are not reporting data over Christmas.

past 7 days are likely to be on the low side [ Christmas /weekend ] so maybe by new years eve aa horrific rise will cast upon us.. averages for last 7 days :-
    [daily ave ] tested positive …. 35,000 ………… died … 478 ….. into hospital …… 2003 ….. tests 440,000 ……

my network of friends report 31 cases of [1 to 9 people] groups that have tested positive up to boxing day.... worst group is nine that went carol singing great they raised £410 for charity … but within 3 days [ about 5 days after the last event ] 9 were positive 1 in hospital …. 5 instances of peeps back from London … 1 case husband returns to family home, from London, tests positive and wife travelling home from Manchester has a choice … stay away over Christmas or risk it!

whilst we all hope that 1 minute past midnight brings in OUR WISH for a better year than the one before, there will be an awful lot of disappointed people sad to say. It will be, in this day and age, be the ones that care that suffer the most at the hands of those that do not. I doubt there is anyone on here who does not know or witnessed the selfishness of the few that care not about their fellow humans. They are the ones that where no masks, avoid SD, complain about no pubs no shops, restricted leisure etc ......…. TO be honest, I really do not wish them well, and it pains me to say it.... I really hope they suffer as the innocent have had to!

I get annoyed at people who ignore the obvious, I also am very open to freedom, liberty and people having freedom of choice, so I am torn, there are idiots, knowalls, they are in a small minority, 95% of us exist together, I follow the rules, wear a mask, space, face, wash my hands, keep a window open in short bursts, self isolate for long periods, that's my choice.

I want no one to suffer pain or indignity, as many of us as possible to prevail, nothing 'Holy Joe' about it, I just look at family, freinds and neighbours and think, keep going we are nearly back to normality, all of us.

    Keep safe.

you tell [used to /still do ] a child "do not touch that" [ used to be the open fire or non electric/gas fuelled stove etc ] you will get burned, it will hurt and in some cases you may die. Quite a few did! I bet the suffering of the pain was a lesson well learned! I wish no harm to anyone, but certainly a shock might help the recognition of the severity of the situation in some! You ought to tell the families of the 70,000 mate, I’m sure they would be happy to know it’s all blown out of proportion.
And before you come back with its underlining illnesses they are dying off remember HIV is a virus but 99% is pneumonia that they die off so perhaps AIDS is blown out of proportion as well.

AIDS is a different type of virus, it actually attacks the immune system which robs it of the ability to produce anti bodies … Corona patients also die of pneumonia but not so prevalent, underlying conditions of a respiratory nature or O2 deprivation is most case scenario's...
will agree 1 FOR'S comment is a bit awkwardly put but I can see the jist to which he is implying

True, that is the case, but like Covid, it is another illness that finally kills you. So even though pneumonia kills you in the end it is all brought on by the aids virus.

Millions around the world die every year from pneumonia, far more than from Covid 19 and way before Covid 19 mate was around.
Silly argument regarding aids too as there still isn't anything to eradicate it after all these years...just treatments.
Our lives haven't been put on hold for any of these killers!!
70,000 as you put it is as said before are misleading, as for more positive cases being blitzed at us would be down to more testing (obviously!!), with most people being unaffected by it, is also scaremongering, but the 1000s that will die from cancer or heart conditions unable to receive the treatment required is fact. Suicides, mental illnesses, through poverty, family breakups through work loss and businesses going bust are also facts..

But that’s what you’ve been implying that people are not dying from Covid for the past few months. And yes it’s true it may not be the bullet, but it is the trigger.
However if it never started, then these underlying illness from the people dying may of been spotted and treated.
Also if people embraced the hands, face and space then this spike may of been prevented. I see that Cabot circus is open so shoppers out and about.
Up on the Breacon Beacons today had a huge amount of people out to see the snow, when we’re supposed to be level 4 over here.

reasonably true, however the lack of any anti bodies being produced at all, means blood related total organ problems are elevated from maybe 1 in 20 cases killing you to almost less than 1 in 2?
Aids was like a time bomb … you had it, got it from very close encounters and took quite a while to whittle you down … Covid you get it [ still not 100% known on how many different ways to ] you recover or you do not and can all happen in a matter of days ..mostly less than 28! even recovery is frought with aftermaths … luckily only about 1 in a few [ 10's ] of hundreds
