Reasons to be cheerful: Last season 35 points was safety The season before and the season before that 34 points was safety Last season Southampton finished 11th and only had 6 wins Last season every team from 11th down (except Everton) only had 6 wins or fewer for the whole season. We have already got 20 points and still have 23 games to play. We have already had 6 wins Last season 12 wins was top 6
I'm not sure your figures are accurate. Norwich had 5 wins, Watford 8 and Bournemouth had 9. The teams above them had way more https://www.google.com/search?q=2019/20 premier league table&oq=2019/20 &aqs=chrome.0.0i457j69i57j6j0l2.6386j0j8&client=tablet-android-lenovo&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#sie=lg;/g/11fj6snmjm;2;/m/02_tc;st;fp;1;;
Yeah you’re right the table I looked at had a shed load of columns and the usual wins column was home wins and there is another for away wins. Got carried away but the points totals are correct https://thefishy.co.uk/leaguetable.php?table=1&season=17
I actually thought Harrison did ok yesterday. He worked so much harder than Raphinha on the other wing and constantly tracked back to help protect Alioski. I noticed him sprinting his arse off many times to make it back and fill spaces that needed filling. I noticed Raphinha and certainly Rodrigo just jog back on a few occasions. Even Bamford at the back end was letting the centre backs step in to midfield unchallenged. I thought Harrison was exceptional off the ball yesterday.
Think you need to take another look, photo all over Facebook, Bamford got the ball first and was taken out after, if that's not a pen, then there is no such thing as a pen.
Well, we had one & he just didn't fit in! So, could we play a 'proper' LB in this team? The answer is that I don't know - no-one does - perhaps except Bielsa. But how many games have we lost purely because we don't have a 'proper' LB? Again, I have no idea, but I suspect our current arrangements will remain in place for the rest of the season. Worthwhile 'proper' LBs are few & far between. 'Proper' LBs that would be capable of Bielsaball, able to cover more than one position, with 1st class pace & passing are in dramatically short supply. I believe we'd need to buy one 'half-baked' & develop him into what we require. In the PL, only Robertson & Tierney fit that bill for me, with Taylor jogging up behind them. So, unless we can convince their teams to part with them for less than £80m+, we're screwed. Or are we? Can I return our honourable readers back to the phrase 'half-baked'? We've got 'half-baked' in the u23s. We also have more than 1 option there, and 'half-baked' would be an insult to them, as they're further ahead than that in their development. For me, our future LB(s) presently play(s) in the u23s. I really can't see us bringing someone in.
Hadn't read this post before I replied to Gessa. More succinct than my post, but alluding to the same conclusion.
Bamford got the ball first and tried to knock it past Pope. Pope then got his foot on the ball to try and stop it going past him.... please log in to view this image ....then Bamford was felled by his outstretched leg. Bamford touched it first, Pope touched it second, then Bamford went over Pope's outstretched leg and was eventually felled by Pope's shoulder as the momentum of both players caused a collision. Video shows it in slow motion at 15 seconds or so. It's all very close and happens very quickly but the more I see of it, the more I am inclined to say play on. The only way it is a penalty is if the ref gave it for the second part of the challenge where Popes shoulder hits Paddy. That's the only reason. That would be harsh. It's two players hitting the ball nearly simultaneously imo. Play on fellas.
Are you Sean Dyche ? Bamford has the ball, he taps it onto pope and it goes past him, pope who was hit by the ball Bamford knocked past him, then does a rugby tackle on Bamford, if that's not a pen then there is no such thing.
No. I'm not Dyche! I played for years and would have hated that going against my team if my keeper got a touch to it. All I am saying is it's not a stone wall penalty like most think. Justified by the way quite alot of people are questioning it.
Tony Pullis gets Wendies job in November and sacked in December Reading between the lines he had a fallout over January transfers
This could be me being bias but... For me our pen was a definite pen, Bamford taken down as he took it round the keeper. I also think it was a foul on our keeper. Meslier had the ball in his hands or touched the ball first. The other player going for the ball didn’t get it and I think it’s as simple as that.
Think you talk a lot of sense generally but disagree with you on this. Bamford’s first touch gets the ball in his control. If Pope touches it and he may have done, it doesn’t even change the direction of the ball so, without the contact Bamford still runs onto it - foul every day of the week. In the good old days he’d have been off as well and Tarkowski or someone would have had to put the gloves on! Double Jeopardy wtf is that old cobblers about?
Double Jeopardy - If the keeper saves the penalty then it's a joke. They need to change it, player scores from the spot Keeper stays on, you miss the penalty the Keeper walks... Would be interesting then, would you miss on purpose as it is early on and play against 10 men for 80 minutes or try and score and take a 1-0 advantage. Or simply offer it to the attacking team, what do you want a penalty or a red
Double Jeopardy is when Chelsea players have a good game and then take a shower with Frank, I notice a lot of players opting to not take a shower with Frank in recent games
In the SPL, you forfeit a match if you can't put out a team. Covid is not an acceptable excuse, especially as players are supposed to be role models & follow all the rules. They clearly aren't & don't. I know that at least 3 matches have been forfeited so far, & the 3 points awarded to the opposition. Ironically, it's the teams at the bottom that have gained the points. Motherwell have been awarded 6 points so far. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55187533
