    Tier 5 reportedly under consideration.

    ****ing hell.

Do these incompetent twats in government actually let the previous restrictions take affect first, bearing in mind the 2 week lag.

I watched a clip on Facebook of James O’Brien talking to a bloke from Leeds, who was living and working in China. He summed up the difference in the characteristics of the Chinese and the British in terms of our respective responses to lockdown. Whereas the Chinese, who admittedly live under a fairly inflexible and dictatorial government, actually think first in terms of the greater good, and therefore don’t do anything to risk spreading the virus, the British are more self-centred and respond to rules by exploring the boundaries. I can certainly quote examples, as I’m sure we all can, of people completely ignoring the restrictions over Christmas, exceeding the bubble limits, having family to stay overnight, and so on and so on. All this has consequences.

This is born out by the infection and death rates in the 2 countries, with ours well above 70,000 and China’s less than 5,000. Even if you don’t believe the figures from China, ours are fairly indisputable, and we should be ashamed. While I continue to hold the government to account for the complete lack of leadership throughout the pandemic, the British people also have to take the largest share of responsibility.

    Well said .

I think the worst thing Boris said was trust in the common sense of the British public . This just backs up your point Chilco . Most are sensible ( That I know ) but there are a lot of idiots out there .

Instead of STAY AT HOME , we get Stay alert ...what the F**K did you expect Boris ...

Boris , be a LEADER make a difficult decision for once in your life !!!

I agree with that to an extent, but the rules are changing so often, its difficult to keep up of what you are allowed and not allowed to do. It's the poor mixed messaging from the government that is causing people to not follow the rules.

The original lockdown had one simple message: Stay at Home. No loopholes, no different rules, simply stay at home. 95% of people followed that no problem - everything that has come since has been such a garbled mess, its easy to see why people just dont bother.

Definitely, although as you say, only 95% of people followed the original lockdown rules, which was enough to keep the virus spreading, albeit in a much reduced way.

I played 9 holes of golf this morning; two three balls. All the others stayed behind afterwards to have “a drink and nibbles” in the car park, because obviously the clubhouse was shut.

    I didn’t stay for anything.

Why the need to do that? I just don’t understand. Yes, traditionally we have a game of golf and a coffee/beer and breakfast, but for me there was no problem missing the food and drink for one year!

Playing tomorrow (2 ball) - won’t be stopping afterwards (none of us will) for anything. Can’t believe that anyone would be so daft to do that!! I think there’s an element of “Covid boredom” now, which is so annoying when you hear from medical staff as to the issues and complications!
