Sadly, we're not entitled to have the plans laid out for our approval. I know people, these days, believe they're entitled but that's not always the case. I don't see Liverpool, Leicester or anyone else demanding to see the owners plans tbh.
I'm afraid I have to go along with the notion that people who want exactly what we all want aren't going to be coming in with bullshit ... ... and, even if they do, we need the proof first. Besides they're hardly likely to be coming in to con us only to change tack entirely because a little group of supporters challenge them. Sorry but RAWA really need to calm themselves down and avoid any more harmful headlines.
Personally I can’t wait for the days when I know nothing about the club and how it’s ran . I remember when Niall Quinn stepped aside for Ellis Short it felt like barely a footnote. It’s only since things went tits up that people seem to really GAF about the way the business side of the club is run. It’s obviously understandable with what’s gone on and where we are. I just hope that this new regime gets us running properly and we can go back to just caring what is happening on the pitch, knowing that the club itself is a well oiled machine ticking along. To that point I hope the next takeover thread is maybe 2-3 pages rather than 1732, because by then the owner will be kinda irrelevant.
I can't believe you are talking like this, mate. If I was KLD I'd be tempted to ring the EFL and just tell them to stick the application in the bin. I'm lost for words that you consider that way to be a good idea.
I think that statement from RAWA is a bit magesque unfortunately. At the end of the day the ink is barely dry on the contracts and we have a fans group demanding to know the plans. Well quite frankly its got **** all to do with us at the minute - all we need to do is turn up and support the lads through thick and thin(which we do anyway - and mostly thin these days!) Let the bloke whos decided to put millions in decide how he wants to run the club - from the appointments most recently made I think the plan will be far better than anything we've seen in decades. We need to chill the **** out and let him get in amongst it and sort it out. I dont want to be hearing from him all the time spouting about this and that. Get a statement sorted when the EFL thing is done and then go quiet - we'll see the results on the pitch.
Ok point taken but even though he's only in his early 20s, he's probably got more experience of how to run a football club than at least the last 2 owners we've had with all the advisers and family surrounding him. Someone somewhere would've done some serious research before he went after the club and I reckon he'll be well aware of the relationship Donald had with the supporters and how he ran the club. I seriously doubt, that he'll even think about coming out with any crap and act the same way as the previous regime as it won't be in his best interests. Who in their right mind would alienate their own customers??????
Tbh im a bit confused with everyone not been behing the RAWA statement....could anyone please pick out what is so damming and unwelcoming with their statement? The Red and White Army would like to welcome Kyril Louis-Dreyfus as the new majority shareholder of SAFC. As with any newcomer to Wearside he will be given the warmest of welcomes and great faith will be put on him to rebuild our Club. However, we all bear the scars of the past few years and therefore supporters will hope to see evidence of an assured plan of long-term progression. We're sure our new owner will have done his homework on Sunderland supporters already. Nevertheless, we hope to meet with him soon, where we will do our bit to help him understand the passion and demands of our fans. We will let him know that he will immediately have the full, vociferous support of a huge fan base that are beyond ready to have something they can all get behind. We will let him know that support will continue and grow if he attempts to meet the standards and ambitions befitting of a club of our stature and history. In 2021 as RAWA flicks the switch to become a Supporters' Trust we hope it coincides with exciting times for Sunderland fans. And let's hope we all get together at the SoL as soon as possible to enjoy the ride, when we come out the other side of this terrible pandemic. Sunderland fans know all too well that it's dangerous to become too excited when a new owner takes the reigns. However, trying to temper that excitement is futile. So we will enjoy the feeling of renewed hope and possibilities for our beloved club. Let's hope that this really is the dawn that follows the darkest hour. Merry Christmas to all Sunderland fans and all the best!
I understand @6inarow and RAWA’s positions here entirely (even if I don’t agree with them). The best comparison I can think of is that we’ve just come out of a really abusive relationship and we aren’t quite ready to trust again. Some of us are willing to take that leap and may end up getting hurt. Some of us don’t want to commit and are wary. I’m in the shag anything that moves camp. And this ones a stunner.
Its the fact they are attempting to put pressure on with demands before the poor lad has even walked in the ****ing door. Who the **** do they think they are anyway? They just sound like a bunch of spoilt brats going in with demands etc As a club we've survived for 130 odd years without supporters trusts or fans groups - they dont speak for me and i'm pretty sure they dont speak for a large majority of fans - Just sounds like they want the attention on themselves tbh.
It's like finding a new girl and demanding she explains all of her intentions before you've even been out on your first date.
second paragraph. Doesn’t need the second sentence. Welcome him and say you can’t wait to hear his plans. Don’t say you “welcome him... but..”
Ah well, ive voiced my opinion and thats what this place is about.....actions and words and all that I suppose
It reads exactly like these insane 'open letters' from the Mags tbh ... ... RAWA seem to want to be the news when, at the moment, we have all the news we need. "Disgruntled Toon fans have demanded urgent answers from owner Mike Ashley about the direction the club is going." A statement said: “Whilst we fully appreciate the club’s view on fan communication, we feel that the time has come to show our fans respect and make some kind of ‘statement of intent’ outlining your proposals to overturn the negativity surrounding NUFC. “We would very much prefer this statement to come from Mike Ashley himself, owner of NUFC. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/new...Qk3a24hXyQZpLgaJeFhk9Vit4f-nKTfdTEQ7U7zePlXg4
They could have just changed the tone slightly and had the same impact without an implied threat of discord. they wrote: “we welcome you but expect to see plans” when they could have written: “we welcome you and can’t wait to see your plans” Both of those imply a need for communication between the two parties. But one of them is aggressive (and I’m obviously using that term loosely) and the other is accommodating.
Would be a boring place if everyone agreed on everything - mind you we probably wouldn't have to press F5 every 2 seconds when something's rumoured to be happening...........
