I see Brentford have uncovered yet another striker, Ivan Toney, 5m paid increasing to 10m but he has 16 goals already this season. We need to poach their scouts
Before the game started, Sky put up a chart of the top goal scorers in the PL this season. Bamford was bottom with a conversion rate of 33% goals scored from ‘big chances’. I’m not sure where the 53% is from or what constitutes a big chance
That stat proves to me that Bamford just isn't up to it and never has been. We'd have more points on the board with Che Adams up front. Bamford is having the season of his life (thankfully) yet he still misses more chances than most in this league. If the team is to push onwards he will need replacing.
Can't recall any pundit agreeing with you, far less Bielsa, Orta etc. He's producing the goods, no matter how many chances he gets. It's the rest of the team that need a kick up the arse, scoring-wise.
Easy check out the BbC top scorers chart. The Sky twats are all about perspective. Mersin chance will be different from a Souness chance ffs. Seems the BbC use the same criteria every season and is recognised as the go to STANDARD
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/total_tackle Found this while looking at various stats, from the drop down Tackles and Passes surprised me, Ayling and Dallas both in the top few with tackles, Rodrigo top on passes
According to Premier League.com he's level with Salah with the most shots on target, 25. With the work he puts in I'll take that
After posting I found the stats on a few different sources, sure enough Bamford misses more big chances than anyone else and has done so for the past two seasons too. I’m surprised myself as I thought he was doing better this season.
Che Adams scores a goal every 324 minutes whereas Bamford scores every 124 minutes. Adams has scored 4 Bamford has scored 10, so can we please give the lad credit where its due
Guess with stats it proves you can always find one that makes you shine or makes you not as good as the next. I’m pleased with his improvement this season and like you say, all things considered I’d take where we are at with him. Just shows how many chances this Bielsa team creates. While on stats, Harrison is third worse at being dispossessed but I don’t think anyone would guess who tops the chart without looking
Nobody has been a Bamford critic like me over the last couple of seasons, but ghis season he has upped his game (So far) he misses a lot of chances yes but he gets more chances than any other striker due to the way we play. The players above him in the BBC chart are the important ones to catch up, not just because they have a couple if goals more but because the ratio of goals to chances % is in the 70s and 60s% but Bamford is getting better. Harry Kane is below Bamford ffs so give the lad his due, but Kane has assisted in 10 goals too but Bamford only 1
Totally agree with you (give him credit) but playing devil’s advocate swap strikers and give Adams the same amount of chances and you’d need to ask would he have more than 10 goals? Would I swap Adams for Bamford no but if a striker has 10 chances and scores 5 is he better or worse than a striker who has 100 chances and scores 10 the stat Sky produced was missing big chances and it reflects other sources such as Sqwaka
Bamford gets more chances. My point is that someone like Che Adams would put away more of the chances. Put Bamford in Southampton team and there is no way he gets 10 goals at this stage. It's not a level playing field. Chris Wood would be in to double figures in the Leeds team. Would Bamford have the same amount of goals playing for Burnley? Not a chance. My main point is that in order to move forward (and upwards in the league) is to eventually replace Championship players with better quality ones. If we had Martial, Rashford and Fernandes in our team last week we probably win 6-2. This squad have performed miracles. I'm thankful that Bamford is having the season of his life but he will HAVE to be replaced with better if we are to compete further up the table.
Agree on the rest of the team. Bamford is going great as far as he personally is concerned. He is doing a job for us. The fact he is very low on the converted chances list (again) shows me that we could be better in that position.
Actually, whilst I'm at it - if we don't sign a striker in January & Bamford gets a season-long injury, there's little doubt in my mind that we'll be in serious trouble - & almost certain relegation. One other thing. Bamford and other Leeds players have made it painfully clear that they do read social media. A lot. So why don't we all get together & slaughter him on here so that he reads it an consequently loses confidence & form? Oh! Not an original idea, I see. Some of you have started already .....
