Bob took a lot of stick in the end mainly as you say because he didn’t really have the funds to take us forward, but the legacy that he left with the AOL and the SOL were a fantastic achievement and probably went a long way to preventing us going bust.

I'm not too sure we're that demanding tbh. We want a team that will graft it's knackers off and play on the front foot and we've had those type of performances since Johnson took over. Keep on like that and I don't think there will be too many complaints.

I think what we are is passionate and support the team in good numbers, even when we are total ****. Very few clubs can claim that about themselves and if someone can get it right off the field and get the club functioning in a proper manner, we'll be an intimidating place for visiting teams. I think Kyril gets this and is one of the attractions about us as no matter how much money you have, you can't buy fans to turn up.

There’s so many self important cliques of Sunderland supporters claiming to speak for all of us I’ve lost count, from RAWA all the way down to SAFC Fan TV.

Our new owner is nothing like the clueless, easily frustrated Ellis Short or the fat little chancer and some will need space and time to get their heads round that.

Hopefully KLD will just crack on getting the new structure in place leaving naysayers to flap their gums.

Stew and Charlie proved beyond doubt that talk is cheap and deeds matter most.

Just ignore the knackers they don’t last long. Been a breath of fresh air for me this forum after posting on RTG for years. The football cracks brilliant and people do speak their mind and have strong opinions but rarely end in abuse

Woke up yesterday with the Herfies head, slept nearly all day. Absolutely loaded, dunno if it's just cold or something more sinister, had the dog out and I am absolutely chin-strapped.
Not got any of the three mains that allow you a test, waiting for my Carolina reaper pie cooking, footy on, bottles are calling out from the fridge......fcuk it, sounds like a good way to die.

Nowt wrong with a multitude of opinions but wumming and personal abuse is generally kept off here.

The RTG takeover thread was absolutely ruined by endless posts insisting there would be no takeover without any proof whatsoever ...

... some good lads, over there, but some truly useless Mods.

Fcuk aye, I'd actually forgot about that. I must have had as much caffeine in the system as alcohol. I was like a walking panic attack by the time I went to bed on Christmas day.

Tell yer what.......those iceland scarily spicy steak pies are the bollocks. Lovely pastry and filling, it's hot but not as hot as the curries. Feel much better now, maybe it's the way forward for colds and china virus. Just been perusing the left over dragon soup flavours. <doh>

This. We aren't really much more demanding than many other sets of fans. We know the potential size of our club (blatantly should be in the top 20 in England so not unreasonable to expect PL) and we'd like to see it try and reach it. We like players that graft and like skill and attacking football. You'll not find a set of fans in the world who want anything else tbh. It's like when they bang on about the mags loving a good number 9, aye cos everyone else hates centre forwards that bang goals in!

Things are amplified a bit here compared to at many clubs because we do have a very passionate fan base and the club means more to us than it does to many others (there are also other fan bases just as passionate as us mind). That might give the impression of demand or pressure, but on the flip side if anyone gets it right they get complete adulation. People should never whinge about the demands here, and if they've got anything about them they should thrive in the atmosphere and be happy that they're at a club where tens of thousands of people genuinely care. What a way to work that would be! Hopefully KLD sees the passion and, as he says, recognises that it's something that all the money in the world can't buy.

Here's one for @Bigmackem and potentially really good news imo.

A proposed future sponsor has a big presence in various countries including South America and Africa.

Sometimes I'm given vague hints but this time I've been told who is being proposed and, despite having to Google the name, am very impressed ....

.... not sure how pleased the asbestos lads will be though tbh.

Don't be surprised if the SOL is renamed either. I, personally, don't have any particular affection for the name so, if money comes in, I'd be happy to see it called anything other than 'The Riverside'.

Bookmark this for fun and let's see if it comes off <laugh>

A stadium name change wouldn't bother me at all, I always call it 'the stadium' anyway so if a change boosts the coffers and profile then let's get it done.

I've posted every scrap of info, except the company name which I can't, so everything from now on is speculation on my part.

It may well be a coffer booster/FFP dodge but I believe it may be to get the SAFC name out in the world ...

    ... thereby attracting further interest.

We're already being talked about in France and the owner is barely through the door.

Great stuff, hope it come off.
Have you heard anything about potential signings in January, maybe under 21s from South America or France? (On loan) I've been looking on the Olympic Marseille website and their 'next generation' page looks like they are affiliated with loads of surrounding clubs to mop up the local talent.

i think the club is already being talked about around the footballing world due to crowd numbers in the 3rd division... i know we often hear the 'it's the fans fault' rubbish trundled out every time something goes down at the club but this time i really believe 'it's the fans fault' that the club has attracted such interest.

remember, this has not been the first and certainly not the only bid...to take our neighbours as a bit of an example, they are really still hanging on to the hope that the single bid for their club still goes ahead...to be fair they are one of only a few teams who have held onto large crowds along with a lack of winning anything along the way, that does take some doing.

i have no idea why we seem to have more than our fair share of doom mongers in the forums but i think the vast majority of us, despite so many false dawns, are more than prepared to welcome the new regime and give them at least a fighting chance, many had SD and CM written off afore they got sat down and it showed.

Sadly that's not the kind of info I'll get, just scraps of financial and legal stuff.

Incidentally though I used to work for Andrei Melnichenko on the French Riviera and was part of the organisation for his wedding.

I've been racking my brains and think some of the Louis-Dreyfus family may have been guests.
(They had mutual interests in gas or oil, summat like that.)

Somewhere, on an old laptop, I have the list of wedding presents and who gave them.

I got the list, from the boss two weeks after the wedding, with ticks & crosses at the side of 'keep or sell'.

One of the gifts, from a fellow Oligarch, was a 1937 German open topped staff car exactly like this one ....

    upload_2020-12-27_15-53-33.jpeg

... he wanted shot of it and it went to a buyer in Switzerland.
