I rate the player and appreciate him being here especially as he plays with a work rate that could put the termites to shame. He's quick and tracks back with good effect and every season he'll traditionally score a solo goal that'll get you on your feet but he's a winger the main tool for a winger is that you put in the crosses, Nobby did it, Laurent Robert did it and Marveaux can do it too... Jonas can't probably because he's predominately a right footed player playing on the left and cutting in to give up possession. It's also rediculous that we have Gabrielle Obertan on the right who can't cross low or head level meaning we have only service through the middle which limits us, We either need him to start crossing with that left foot or move him to the right to do the job on his natural foot.

This might split the Toon faithful down the middle but feel free to give your input.

I think our best midfield would be

Ben Arfa - Dreamboat - Tiote - Marveaux

I like Jonas but I think Marveaux will give us a bit more, I can see one of them playing on the right with HBA behind the striker but that would mean one of Best and Ba would miss out, difficult to drop either at the minute.

indeed, especially considering when Ben Arfa cuts in he doesn't lose the ball.

I don't think HBA should play on the wing. It may leave the full back having two players to mark. I would play Jonas on the right and Marveaux on the left with two of Ba/Best/HBA through the middle.

Agree with this, HBA isn't going to track back anywhere near as well Jonas, he'll be much better in a free role behind a striker. Think Jonas & Marv on the wings will be great especially as either can switch side.

    ------------Ba-----------
    -------------------------
    Marveaux Ben Arfa Jonas-
    ------------------------
    ------Tiote Cabaye-------
    -------------------------
    Santon Colo Tayls Simmo

    ----------Krul------------

Harper, Willo, Raylor, Abeid/Gosling Ferguson/Obertan/Sammy Best

Definitely our strongest 11 and those in bold are key players.

I might as well carry o it on. Tiote and Cabaye, two Ashley signings, key players? As if Cabaye, who we don't know a lot about, could be better than 'last seasons best player' (TM **** pundits) Joey Barton...

Even if he can't cross he's still winning us freekicks and corners which isn't bad and compared to last season he is drifting more and more in the penalty box to get on the end of crosses when there isn't enough strikers around. But I do agree that if only he could cross he would be twice the player is right now, and it would help us when we're playing with Loven/Shola upfront who really need good service to score.

    .................Krul..................
    Raylor....Colo...Saylor....Santon

    Jonas.....Tiote...Cabaye....Marveaux
    ..............Ben Arfa......
    ..................Ba..............

Our best team on current squad. Keep Raylor for his free kicks and performances so far. Buy a new fullback in Jan.
Ben Arfa free role. Cabaye more advanced, Tiote back and boom we're a very good team.

I agree, I was just saying for arguments sake, as many people seem to think he should wait till we lose before we put him in the squad, which is just asking to get beaten really.

I dont think Jonas would work on the right wing, he isnt a good crosser on either foot. It's just his style of play. Honestly I think Obertan's the only player who would be effective on the right.

    IMO
Marveaux and Jonas can play in the hole or on the left
Benny can play in the hole
    Obertan on the right.
