Does anyone think he will start v Man Utd? He seems to have recovered and the international break will help, but will he be too short on match fitness to start the game? http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/clarke-stevie-to-step-it-up
I think Kenny will start him, but I have a feelin with the int break and Suarez in South America, it will be in for Suarez and not Adam
I don't think we really need him from the start against United because their midfiled is slightly pathetic, we could play Spearing and Stephen Hawking in centre mid and prob still over run them.
I think he'll start but probably wont play the full 90. I think it will be Downing,Lucas,Gerrard,Kuyt as a midfield 4 with Adam off the bench for Gerrard after around 60 mins
I think we'll be seeing a different Utd side from previous years - last season, they had older players like Scholes, Carrick etc when it was easier to bully them in midfield as they were quite slow but now they have injected youth and dynamism. It will be a tighter match than previous ones at Anfield ...
I agree this will be a hard game and we will need to battle with them all over the pitch and pass the ball well.
It hasn't really all changed that much. Fletcher is supposed to be a defensive midfielder, but he can't tackle to save his life. Carrick jumps out of more 50/50s than Raul Mereiles and Anderson, we just have to hope he does what he's best at consistently in this game, and thats passing the ball to Liverpool players. I reckon Kenny will stick in the spare man, and they cannot cope with that. The movement between Liverpools attacking four which will more than likely be Downing, Kuyt, Adam/Gerrard and Suarez will be too much for them especially without Vidic as it was in March.
my thoughts are that Kenny may consider gerrard as a big lift to the crowd. we all know that at the start we will be up for it... Ferguson has bemoaned the fact that we will be in his back handed way.... so as we've played a few times without him before i think we may just put him on the bench. then on 60mins he can be introduced and lift the roof off the place, that impact might just make the difference.
World Beaters!!!! No chance. But just goes to show if we're so bad and still win, what's that say about the rest of the league?
Sorry but it will not be so easy, they have a good team overall and play for each other which can be just as important as individual skill. We will need to match their work rate and play good football if we are to get a win. We will also need to keep an eye on Rooney, I have never been a fan but this season he is looking the player he was always supposed to be.
I think the easiest means of settling this is to say that utd are a fine team with many fine players who've acheived great things and there's more to a team than one or two players. carrick and fletcher all have roles to play and when they are in the team they are there because they fulfil the role... which is why berbatov is not in the team as he sometimes fails to meet the standard. you don't reach CL finals with trash players time and again. sorry but thats a fact.
I hope he plays. Gerrard is not the player he was 2 years ago. He might get the odd goal against some poor team. he might even raise his game aginst United. But if United's front 2 get it right on the day, it could be humiliation for the scousers.
You always rise to the bait. I must be doing something right. Hahaha! Destroying the scousers' huge expectation tastes even better this season as they have spent so much for such little return.
What have all the teams that have beaten Manchester United recently and that includes Liverpool got in common? I'll tell you what. They dominated and bullied and harassed and annoyed them in the centre of the park. The key to doing so is adding an extra man in the central midfield. This means they cannot cope with it. They have no answer to it. The teams that they have beaten have gone toe to toe and let them have posession. So in my opinion, the best way forward is to stick the extra man in midfield, have the security of Lucas and Gerrard plonked right in front of the back four and let the offensive players whether it be Suarez,Kuyt, Adam and Downing or Gerrard instead of Adam do their thing further up the pitch.
I hope he plays. It will make it easier having Steven Gramps on the pitch hobbling about like a 1 legged cripple.
